Thread: Awesome French Action Film, Banlieue 13

  1. Awesome French Action Film, Banlieue 13

Luc Besson made a new martial arts film last year that while not having the story and depth of say Danny the Dog, has a lot of amazing stunts and fights and is worth checking out. I don't think it's been licensed in the US yet but you can torrent the French version of the film and then get the subtitles file also.

I definitely recommend checking out this film, crazy stunts, reminding me of young Jackie Chan and more recently Ong Bak.

I beleive there is a Thai DVD of it with english subs, so I am gonna seek that out, but if you want to preview it, I'll include the torrent file here, if this isn't allowed, let me know and I can remove.

    Here's a decent review I found:

  2. YES!

Thank you for posting this, I've been waiting for the torrent to this thing to surface. This movie is all about Parkour/Free Running, when I saw a clip to it I was so fucking blown away by it that right now I'm all about learning Parkour.

Here is a clip from this movie that will convince you to watch it:

  3. Thanks for the Link ssbomberman! I'm a big fan of free running/Parkour, i think its awesome. I also have Luc Besson's "Yamakasi" on DVD, its a great flick. Only downside is you can't get it with english subtitles. Regardless its still worth it. I'm also awaiting the DVD release of his other movie with the same cast from Yamakasi called "Les Fils du vent" (sons of the wind). great stuff.

  4. After seeing that clip I want this on DVD right now. Just incredible stuff.

  5. I'll give it a look-see. What's good for using these subtitle srt files btw?

EDIT: Nevermind, figured it out. Never have used that before.

  6. i've seen this sort of thing before. He must have parked his Scion really far away.

  7. Yeah I watched Les Fils du vent without subs, and while it was good, I still prefer to know wtf people are saying lol. I really like this new style of action film, it isn't as hard hitting as say Danny the Dog, but it is fun and keeps you on the edge of your seat.

Oh in case you guys were wondering, VLC is a great player, just name the .srt file the same as the movie file and then select english subs in the drop down menu.

EDIT: good news, Les Fils is out on HK DVD, so I am gonna order it and see it with subs.

I need to now find the first Yamasaki DVD with subs...

  8. Fun movie. Some great action scenes, an overall good movie to kill an hour or so of time.

  9. Wanted to resurrect this thread since the DVD is hitting in a couple of weeks (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...v=glance&n=130). With all the good action stuff coming out recently (Protector/Fearless), def check this out if you can. The French are doing some awesome martial arts stuff lately.

  10. Great fucking movie, I just wish there was more of it. I said it in the TYG thread, an hour and 5 min is not a movie, it's a long TV show.
