The game industry won't crash. The user base has changed since the last one. The people who played games in the first crash were nerds and kids. Nerds are smart and typically don't buy garbage (unless it's something diff hates) and Parents at the time didn't buy thier kids garbage either.
However, now gaming has many many casual gamers who don't put a ton of thought into what they spend their money on. There is not going to be any shortage of casual gamers to buy the new systems so they can play madden, GTA Rape your neigbors dog 5, or Halo 3.
It will take 5 to 10 years of shit like this getting worse and worse before the average person figures it out, and the console industry crashes again. I have my doubtes either of the big three are going to let it get that bad.

As far as I'm concerned this thread was started by Yoshi (as Sethsez's comments are directed at a poster that no longer exists in my mind).
Anyway, I was thinking of the exact same thing, but not in North America. I read an article in GamesTM about the Japanese market. Titles may sell a fuck ton, it said, but they hardly sell as much as they used to. Further, some of them hardly qualify as GAMES anymore.

This arguement has been done over and over and over. Nothing has happened. Nothing has crashed. Games will still continue if there is a crash. SuperMario is a bad poster, bla bla bla.

The last crash had more to do with console gaming, than the overall market dying. People moved on to the C-64 and Apple computers for their gaming needs.
What really bothers me though, is that a good portion of the smaller developers won't survive the transition to the higher standards required to develope games on the upcoming consoles. With larger budgets and more risks being taken, some companies may lose their ass in the process.
