Sure you can. DVD players cost hundreds of dollars until PS2 brought their price down, and plenty of people were willing to shell out for them. Same with stereo components. 360 and PS3 are moving towards the mythical set top box that does everything in your living room - downloadable entertainment, plays movies, music, stores photographs, etc. - a TiVo peripheral is coming much sooner than later. And now that gaming has reached a point where it looks nearly as impressive as movies, alot more people are going to see it as worth the cost, whereas before it was considered a toy.

see this is what bothers me about where this industry is going

I DO NOT want a Video Game/DVD Player/BRDVD,HDVD Player/Tivo/Cable box/Stereo System/Digital Music player/Digital Photograph Viewer/Media Center/Network Storage Device all in one system

It's probably the same reason why I build my own PCs instead of spending less money and getting something similar from dell or gateway

I like to control the componets Im getting, if I get a dvd player Im going to look for one in my price range with the features I want (samething I would do with a motherboard) etc etc

I have found that all in ones very rarely seem to offer the same level of options as stand alones

There's no videogame "crash" going on because videogame sales are *up*. Sales in 2004 were up 8% compared to 2003, and in the first half of 2005 were up 21% compared to 2004.

If there really was a crash the numbers would be down, way down.
