I definately wouldn't be suprised by a large decline (maybe not a fullblown crash). While sales numbers are up, they seem to be up because of legions of casual gamers buying hyped games. More hardcore gamers seem to be bored to death with recent releases, and that's an early warning sign of bad things. Without the hardcore gamer, systems don't have successful launches at exorbitant prices and the hype machine breaks down. And we're about to see 3 gigantic system launches.
How many of us are as excited as we once were to drop $400 on a 360 and $60+ for each game? Or God knows how much for Kutarugi's latest modern masterpiece (PS3)? Revolution won't be expensive, but too little is known about it to assess it's role in everything. There are 6 "consoles" saturating the market right now (3 home systems, 3 handhelds with mainstream support) and another 3 are launching in the next year. There are a lot of red flags.
