Woah. They get a badge too! Imagine how many chicks you could bring in with that thing.
Best Buy did not think up the name Geek Squad. Geek Squad was created here in Minnesota by a group of guys who would drive around minneapolis in VW Bugs with Geek Squad written on the side, and would offer to fix peoples computer for them. They have been around for like 10 years, Best Buy bought them like 2 years ago.Originally Posted by diffusionx

You couldn't pay me enough to do on-site service again, even six figure income. I didn't work for Geek Squad, but it's the same everywhere. There's a lot more I would love to say on this subject, but the topic would have to get moved to Fight Club for me to do so.
I have been tempted to Apply at the local Best Buy for a posistion... but I'm not that desperate. Yet.
I already dont like doing tech-support and all that stuff here in my office, but for a six-figure income, I'd gladly make housecalls. Were you... abused while working in on-site service? You can tell us, its ok.Originally Posted by Mike
Heh, no I wasn't abused. You just get taken advantage of by your employers. Run-of-the-mill housecalls suck and those are what you will get in the Geeksquad. The good kind involves server and network setup, topography, file sharing, all of that stuff - but you can do that on your own for good money anyway, you don't need to be part of a company to do it.Originally Posted by Rhydant

I believe a lot of people feel like they're getting a better job done at Best Buy simply becuase it is a brand name electronics store, just like CompUSA. For whatever reason, some people prefer not to trust the local computer shops around here, even though they most likely will do a better job at a lower price.Originally Posted by portnoyd
