My point was that you don't really spend much time in the low-level game. Now, granted, my speed in levelling up is because I know the layout by now and you were moving slower because everything was new to you.

Each class really doesn't start until 20, at which point almost every one gets at least one totally unique ability that sets them apart (some, like the rogue, get a bunch at 10) and at that point you've also reached at least one instance and are preparing for another. Blizzard did that because the unique abilities can really change the playstyle and to that point you're just using what's basically a typical setup divided between casters and fighters so that you can learn how to play your class while in a familiar style. I think it works really well because you can switch to a new class at any point and already know how to work things while you're getting baby step introductions to a different set of abilities.

I also think Blizzard did the low-level setup really well because you're fighting creatures that look like you should be fighting them (it's like CoH but with a more varied set of adversaries). It's all trolls and gnolls with large panthers and boars and things like that, not stupid little rabbits that would cleave in two from an actual broadsword yet somehow pose a true threat to a fully armored warrior with a two-handed sword. They start you off with regular sized creatures that don't seem out of place to be able to kill you, and by the end of the game you're routinely fighting twenty-foot-tall monsters. It scales really nicely.

I'm amazed as well. My plan is failing miserably.

Anyway, I represent one faction of the MMO population: the power gamer. Give me new content, and I'll kick its ass in a week, unless it is some stupid ass, forced-grouping garbage. WoW is not as good for power gaming, because the end comes too soon, and large groups are a requirement for everything at 60. Thus, it's a mismatch with my style and taste.

The fantasy setting doesn't help it or EverQuest any either. The races in WoW are bland as hell. EverQuest has some better ones, but none of them measure up to the Star Wars universe. Theme matters, and I need a race I want to be. That's not humans, and it sure as shit isn't dwarves.

Yeah, the alliance races in WoW are so shitty that I actually picked an elf. Of course, the other stupid thing about WoW is that you can only be certain classes with certain races.

In related news, I would actually enjoy Third Strike if Capcom focused on a kick-ass single player mode and got rid of that stupid forced multiplayer aspect.

I feel like board games should start including a robotic arm with AI that lets it play against you, so I dont need to bother getting in touch with people when I decide to play a board game on a whim.

You know... you can play a multiplayer game without being forced to play on the same side as other players. Solo PvE and solo PvP fit well within the genre. Go back to playing your instance fest and leave this thread alone.

Did you get this one, gamevet, and is anyone else still playing? I am enjoying ToOW more than RotW so far. I love the scenery on Mustafar, and the quest rewards aren't all products of a slave race.

  10. I didn't get this one. My character is hardly what I'd call top level. I'm currently working on Pistoleer and on completing medic. I bought Jump to Lightspeed and it's still sitting in the box, waiting to be played. If I only had the time to play.
