People could just buy a portable DVD player for a fraction of that price. UMD sales are up because they aren't releasing any GAMES for it, so people want to warrent their $250 purchase.Originally Posted by StriderKyo
Just going by what I read. It sounded odd to me too, but basically they made it sound like they wanted to work out support for it first, so that they didn't release it and have nothing use it right away.Originally Posted by StriderKyo
I agree that the lack of wireless out of the box is lame since the other two have it, but it doesn't affect me at all, so I'm not as bothered as everyone else. I have my xbox wired, so I'm just gonna take the cable out the back of it, and put it in my 360.

That'll accomodate any next gen Final Fantasy, MGS or GTA quite nicely. And don't sell the "only good for movies" part short - Hollywood pushed PS2 with DVD, and it's carried PSP. The advantages of Blu Ray are obvious - if they can convince consumers to eat the extra $10 it takes to manufacture them in the beginning, there's no reason it won't become standard. Heck, there's no reason PS3 won't make it the de facto standard - it'll probably have more marketing behind it than HD-DVD will."
gigs my friend....GIGS. and blu ray can hold a helluva lot more than 45.
I already corrected him on thisOriginally Posted by Dragonmaster Dyne
But to clarifiy, it's 200 GIGS for Blu-Ray, 25 Gigs for each layer, and they can have up to 8 layers. Not sure the capacity for HD-DVD though.

If we're going to be seeing movies with 8 layers, they'd damn well better fix the layer change pause issue. (Though now that I think of it... even with HD and no compression, what could possibly use 200 gigs? All three LotR EE's on one disc?)
Gigs you idiot, GIGS! And Blu Ray can hold more than 45!Originally Posted by StriderKyo

That'd rock. Entire seasons of TV shows on one disc would be pretty hot as well.Originally Posted by LordPerrin
