16 chapters doesnt mean 16 games. arent parts 1 and 2 several chapters themselves?

Yeah, I am confused a bit. I mean are they going to compress the remaining parts of the story into a 2-3 games or what?

The only chapters that weren't made into games were Chapter 2 and 7-16
Thanks for the clarification, Johnny. I just wanna see the arc get finished.
I also want to add that I love the real time fight with the gang in the basketball court, sweetness. *hugs his DC*

Part 2 is much better than part 1. If you like the first game it only gets much, much better.
I also hope they include chapter 2 (the journey to Hong Kong), and don't skimp on anything. Make this fucker Dragon Warrior VII long. The second game was 4 chapters, and took me about 35 hours to finish. All things being equal, that works out to 140 hours of Shenmue awesomeness. Make it happen! Also, upgrade the fighting engine to VF4's. Shenmue 2's wasn't bad at all, like a simplified VF2, but more complexity would make the training to level up your moves more satisfying.
Oh yeah, add an online component. 80 man battle, arena vs., high score boards & vs. for the arcade games, QTE high scores, Online forklift races w/track editor, Lucky hit, oh yes....

I liked Shenmue 1's pacing more than 2's. Both are great, while the first is probably my favorite game ever. Since I'm on a Shenmue kick right now, this is fantastic news (if it ends up being true). I'd like to see the classic games have some online stuff, which would make a new installment that much better.

Xbox version has slightly better graphics with some nice bump-mapping & light sourcing effects, PAL version has Japanese (ie., better) voice acting with subtitles. I'd go for the PAL version personally, but YMMV.Originally Posted by Dylan1CC

The second game is better than the first, but neither is jaw-dropping, really. The ridiculously slow pace and complete lack of personality from anybody kinda negates the cool theme and great world. I was pretty absorbed by the second game but when I put it down I was unable to ever pick it up again because the flaws are so obvious.
Still, Lucky Hit.
Cool, thanks. I don't have an XBox yet but if I can get the DC rev cheaper than that's the one I will get. Plus subtitles are of course almost always better.Originally Posted by StriderKyo
