So the story is going to be split up weird and released out of order?
omg theyre ripping off coheed and cambria.
Update: the post right above mine is sad.
God, you're so negative. You yourself were absorbed by the second game. What's your point? That it isn't perfect? Who said it was? Despite its flaws many of us found it compelling and memorable and, as many have pointed out, there really isn't anything like it. So, naturally, we're excited by the prospects of a third one.Originally Posted by diffusionx

I was going to say something about it... but nothing needs to be said.
Anyway, I bought the original Shenmue after all of the priase it was receiving and found myself grossly disappointed in it and never understood what the big deal was. It was very limited, linear, stilted and, most importantly, boring. The free fighting portions were pretty good (nothing I couldn't get out of a 3D fighter) but nothing I would pick up a second for.

I hope the next Shenmue isn't a 360 exclusive, but if it comes out after their price goes down a bit, I suppose it won't matter either way.
The fact that you can get Xbox Shenmue II for $10-$15 or maybe less new is not a judgement of its quality. It is in fact a sign that Jesus loves you and that your life is a precious and special gift. Shenmue is salvation.
This would sell me on the 360, espcially if they bundled in upgraded versions of the first two games with it.

I agree with Compass on a few things, but I don't condone ever trying to pick apart Diffusionx. The one thing I've learned about people like him is the imminent "Bullshit factor" that spews from every post. One minute they could be "Oh, I really liked x game." and then a week later, for no aparent reason, they decide to bat for the other team. Sl1p does this a lot, too. You just let them have their say, and it's over.
I think Shenmue is a great series. The art direction was top notch, and the graphics to this day are still so damn impressive. However, I personally couldn't last in the series for more than a few hours. After a while the whole "Have you seen my... ???" schtick got a little old. That, and I have a hard time imagining an 80 year old asian grandmother sounding a lot like Barbara Strissand. If you're going to make a great game, you have to have good voice acting. =p

Anyway, if you want to complain about Shenmue's voice acting, go ahead! Try the Japanese version! It will chew you up and spit you out. I had plenty of fun playing with kittens and lightswitches, but I accomplished nothing other than scoring a sweet boombox. I always wished I could pick it up and show it to Tom. He would have flipped his shit.
It's not the best voice acting, but it works. It didn't really bother me. The music during the bike scene did, however.
