Preorder X360 at EB for only....

As I've said before, I'm getting mine through work. I know there are at least 2 or 3 other people that will be doing it too, we just set it aside and don't sell those systems that day. No pre-orders, no money down, get whatever the hell I want, and on day one. I have all the money saved up already, it's just a matter of keeping it in the bank, keep making more money to keep saving, and then it won't hurt so much.

Yeah, at least they announced the price now instead of waiting a week before launch. I can now set aside some of my welfare check each week to save up. Gotta start using my foodstamps more.

Unless they want backwards compatibility, extra content, custom soundtracks, dvd functionality, faster load times, more storage than a memory card or a wireless controller, that is.

I'm not nitpicking you personally, but none of those things would make me spend more money for a X360. It's all about convenience; I'll just play my first Xbox, the developers can choose the music, not me, I own 7 dvd players, patience is a virtue, the current xbox storage is too big for my lifestyle and wireless remotes are funny.

I know this horse has been beaten to death, but I cannot fathom why anyone would shop at EB or GameStop at all, let alone pre-pay. You realize why they offer the "service", right? Your money earns them interest while you wait for the game, instead of it earning you interest. They should give you back 2 or 3% of the price, because they are making even more when you're a dumbass and preorder in full.

I agree with you. I just don't have the luxury of being really vocal about it.

I'm just using the pre-pay system as a cheap way (on my end) to pay it off a bit at a time. Pay now, pay later, it really makes no difference to me except that a bit at a time is easier than $500 in one go.

It's in no way cheap though. $500 today is worth more than $500 in November. It's called the time value of money. If you kept that money in your savings account for another couple months, it might be $510 instead of $500. I know that doesn't sound like a lot, but would you walk into EB and hand them an extra $10? That's exactly what you are doing here. You're giving EB even more money on top of their already inflated prices.

I just finished an economics course and we covered this stuff. Funny how most people never even think about how our economy works, hell I never did. Now I have a much better understanding.

I can almost understand the MS pricing scheme, almost. But EB and the like are really overestimating what people will pay.

I worked at EB for years and I never even thought about that. I know one of the major reasons they wanted us to take preorders was so we'd guarentee that a customer was going to come back again (And, if they didn't, then it was an extra $5 or whatever dollars in EB's pocket come six months when they cancel all the old preorders), but the whole thing about interest never even entered my mind.
Once more, holy fuck. My hate for EB and Gamestop grows with each passing day. I'm so happy I have not purchased anything from them since the time that I quit.
