I think of one massive world that you can travel from one end to the other pretty seamlessly.
GTA3 doesn't do it seamlessly either, it has load times as well. I would probably go with a online game like Diablo or something. Even Wing Commander and the Privater games let you travel the galaxy at free will but when you wanted to warp to another part of it you had a nice little load time.
I think I'll go with one of those online RPG's like Diablo and even then sometimes it had load times.

I thought it was a blend of both 2d and 3d. In any case that is the only type game I can think of that is like that.Originally Posted by Frogacuda

Unless there's something that predates it, the first Elder Scrolls game.

My guess is that the person is claiming GTA3 was the first game that allowed you go anywhere. As others have already stated, and for the reasons they stated, it's demonstrably false.

See, it was so "do anything" that it didn't even give you obvectives. My impression of the game was you fly around and............... do what?
In any case, it's the first (only?) 3D 3D game. As in, it came with 3D glasses and had a graphics mode that accomodated them.
Interesting, the first 3d game that can be fully explored basicly sucked. Then again what did you really expect. Didn't that game come out in 99? or was it 2000?Originally Posted by Bacon McShig
