Thread: Sega to show VF5, Afterburner, HotD4, Virtua Tennis 3, Sci-Fi @ AM show tomorrow.

  1. ign has moves up of fist of the north star.. some of the animation looked good.. but then at times it looked choppy.. i think it was the low res crap video they shot it on.

anyway.. they have 3 gameplay movies and the intro.. in the xbox360 section (?) for the JAMMA show.
look here, upon a sig graveyard.

I've been told from someone who saw it firsthand that the animation is on par with GG, and that's good enough for me. I can't connect to IGN's videos for some reason, grr. Really want to see it in action.

  3. i can never connect to the quicktime movies there.. try getting the .wmv files.

if that doesn't work.. try hitting me up on AIM.. i can send them from here possibly.

  4. I just wanted to pipe in and say it's good to see Sega's arcade division alive and well. VF5 and After Burner look amazing. And cannot wait to see more of Suzuki's Psy Phi.

  5. Psy-Phi reminds me a little of Dragon Drive. Or 2-player Zone of Enders.

  6. I went to JAMMA '05 today and it was proper bo I tell thee. Pictutes and impressions coming soon if I may.

Ok so let me get the translation down, Bo = good? Pap = Bad?
    Barf! Barf! Barf!

  8. Another year, another JAMMA show!

Only covered things that I am interested in.

    03/09/05:

    We're in!:

Originally a mobile phone game in Japan, this PCB version did little for me. A bit to naff and confusing and worse still; looks like a mobile phone game here too:

    http://pic3.picturetrail.com/VOL10/8.../111150324.jpg

ESPGaluda 2 is more of the same but with heightened detail and incredible animation. Stunning:

    http://pic3.picturetrail.com/VOL10/8.../111150420.jpg

A really boring new shoot 'em up that failed to excite. Very much like Zero Gunner 2, but even worse in every department:

More Slugging and the worst installment bar pt.4. Badly drawn wishy-washy backgrounds with NeoGeo style sprites makes things look really naff especially when at times the whole screen zooms out in what is a failed attempt to make things look impressive. Also everything has dark shadows which causes the screen to look like a buggy mess especially on multi plat-formed sections where the screen is a burst with ‘action’. It's boring to play to boot regardless of being free play here. The Atomisware hardware once again proves itself to be possibly the worst ever released making everything look like cheap underpowered pap:

Anyone expecting the tight SFC tight inertia driven playable bliss of the original with this first commercial release will be disappointed. However, approach this title in context as I did bearing in mind that this is a spiritual successor to Namco’s own aging Race On! (still popular here in Tokyo) then one can appreciate it’s target audience (casual users) and aim. In this case it’s a success. Complete with a NamCam (like Race On!) this should do well:

    Sega’s World beating heritage:

What OutRun2 is to OutRun, incredible:

Pt.3 takes the licensed players to frigtning realism levels:

Again, new hardware isn’t a gigantic leap, but actually helps the characters become genuinely real and aggressive:

    Erm, frigtning:

From what I understand it's not based on a mobile phone game, it's just mobile phone themed to be cute. It's a gimmick.
