Im all for a solid flaming (even of a game I like), but he didn't say much there. When he expands on the "cheap level designs, ugly graphical "style" and completely broken control scheme" I will give what he says more weight.

Well, it's in his blog so he's not really trying to do a professional review. I assume we'll get more in the 1up piece.Originally Posted by Diff-chan
Still, this entire series lives and dies on level design, so if the level design was screwed up then he's probably right about the game being crap. What remains to be seen, obviously, is whether the level design is actually screwed up.
How about every single other review outlet everywhere, which have universally handed out 8s & 9s?Originally Posted by Finch

Ups should be dropping off my copy of Goku Makaimura within the next hour...can't wait.
7-7.5 seems accurate.
It is not the game everyone was hoping for, except that small demographic that savors physical and psychological trauma.
This line is rather telling to me...
Most likely translation-I am no good at video games that require any type of skill or discpline, and therefore must bag on them to compensate for my shortcomings as a gamer.
**Hope I don't have to eat my words, I'll find out soon as the game is on its way from Asia.
Ghouls'N Ghosts=Greatest game known to mankind
Edge I trust, but who gives a shit about Play? The score they'd give was obvious from the moment the name was announced. Quality wouldn't enter into it.
Still, this is one game I'm not going to rely on reviewers for. It's a 2D revival of an old-school series, so it'll get good marks from everyone (as long as it doesn't jump out and stab you in the dick) thanks to nostalgia. I'm far more curious about what fans of the series are saying a month or so after it's released.
Or it could be that what was once a punishingly difficult (but possible to master) series is now just full of cheap and lazy design. This would be a very easy game to screw up because the originals were so dependant on pixel-perfect layouts, and people who don't know any better will say "it's hard as hell, so it must be just as good!"Originally Posted by warnpro
I'm not saying this is the case, but it's been my one fear regarding this since it was announced so I'm hoping Parish just sucks and doesn't actually have a point.

HAY GUYS, NINTENDOGS GOT A 40/40 AND A LOT OF PEOPLE GAVE IT A HIGH SCORE! I BET IT'S AWESOME!Originally Posted by StriderKyo
I only care about that when i think something is awesome myself. Usually when that happens, every review outlet shits on something i like, except mabye one or two. Happened with Nightmare of Druaga, and who do you think was the only person who even gave the game a chance? This game lives and dies on a hardcore audience. I really don't think a bad review would kill its chances, especially when the whole internet is determined it'll be great.
So maybe this game is awesome for some people, alright for some, and horrible for others. I wouldn't put it past Capcom, God love 'em. Maverick Hunter to me was a big pile of slightly entertaining garbage, everyone else seemed to think it was the bee's knees. I'm even drifting towards Powered Up being bad. I just can't because it has good intentions. I love the original Megaman, and i kind of like MMX. I never enjoyed GnG beyond the first one, so i can imagine it being the most horrible thing ever.
I'd probably still drop $20 on it, just because i'm stupid that way.
Donk
Maverick Hunter is weak.
