Thread: Ultimate Ghosts 'n Goblins (PSP)

  1. 4 out of 16 aren't at least 70%. 2 of those are Jeremy Parish, and one is EGM, 1/3rd Jeremy Parish.
    Donk

doesn't seem to be that great of reviews to me.
LOL! Did I fucking call it or what?

If you dont believe me, look: http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/929657.asp

Parish's two reviews help bring the score down from a high 80's to a low 70's. He has another one coming.

For a game that is a definite system-seller to get dragged down like that is nearly criminal. In 3 years some jackass on TNL will be like "UGnG sucked, look at the GR score!" (like what Yoshi does now for games he doesn't like) and we will all have forgotten it's because of Parish.

ZD is pretty pathetic for giving this guy so much power like that.
TNL was way ahead of me, though.

  3. I believe Parish reviewed it for OPM as well.

I played the first couple levels. Gorgeous game, seems solid, but I can't stand the difficulty on the PSP controls :/ If it were on something like PS2 or GameBoy, I'd find it easier to get into. But for me, the PSP controls sap the fun from the challenge :/ Kudos to anyone that enjoys it, though. Again, I think it seems like a solid game.

  4. alright, I fucking blew that argument, and fuck you diff for putting me in my place on that one.
So I know I'm dumb and all but I still can't see a regular guy walk into circuit city and stop to look over the PSP games. He sees Star Wars Battlefront 2, Midnight Club 3, Tony Hawk, and Ghouls n Ghosts. Assuming they're all $20, do you really think he's going to walk out of there with GnG?

  5. If you threaten to kill him otherwise, he will.

wow. lol at you if you believe anything the gaming press feeds you. What a lame excuse to not buy a potentially awesome sequel to an awesome series. I can see if you, Bacon, and Compass are just honest and admit, "Hey, a lot of shit is coming out in the next couple of months so, need to budget here and save this one for later" , but dont throw up terrible reasons to not get this like "lower production values", EGM scores = bad , or call this a remake.

I'm curious, exactly how are the PSP contols "difficult" for this game?

Is it related to the PSP "stiff D-pad diagonals" problem or is it something else?

Any particualr maneuvers / moves in this game that would be difficult to pull off because of those control problems?

Part of the post I made that set off this whole thing was that I can't justify $40 for pretty much ANY handheld game. It's not like I have some vendetta against UG&G here.

Capcom put out 2 games at $30, and I supported them. The rest they've put out at $40, and I haven't. I voted with my money for lower prices, and I vote with the abscence of my money against higher prices. It's just as simple with that.

No, it's your loss, too. Without them you sure as hell will never see another installment anytime soon.

Ignore him, the controls are fine. If you can live with the PS2's dpad, you can live with this.
