Pretty nice, too bad it's just a fan custom.

So, I hit an out-of-town Walmart today... jackpot. Tons of product is being distributed in those display-ready pallets, you know, the kind they just have to wheel out to the main aisle in front of the toy dept. and take off the plastic wrap. The main draw is of course the new exclusives including Fracture, but they also got a bunch of the last round (Big Daddy etc.), plus Animated deluxes from the first two waves, Animated voyagers from all released waves (finally got a decent-looking Blitzwing), and late wave movie voyagers marked down to twelve bucks (almost took home Incinerator, but meh, he's still crap even at that price).

Now, the bad news... they also had plenty of the Legacy of Bumblebee pack, and in person, the repainted Classics 'Bee blows. You can probably find one where the stripes look smooth if you dig long enough, but by far the bigger problem is the roof/chest panel. As you may recall from the original version, it's cast in clear (now clear blue) plastic and painted yellow. Well, the problem is it's a bright banana yellow while the rest of the figure is cast in a darker orange-yellow closer to that of the movie version. So, regrettably, this went from an anticipated find to an easy pass in no time flat.

Anyway, when I got back into town and checked my local crappy Walmart, even they had also gotten in all of the above except the disappointing Legacy pack, so it looks like the distribution on this stuff should turn out pretty well. Check your local store/s frequently in the next few days.

Oh, also snagged Universe ultra Silverbolt at Target and saw but passed on Unicron... if I'm gonna pay that much I'm gonna be even pickier than usual about paint.

I like the basic design, but it has its share of problems and really should have been a voyager or ultra.

Finalized production sample City Commander unboxed... God that thing looks awesome. I'm glad they're not going into production on the Powered Convoy version they displayed at that one trade show... 'cause I might not have the willpower not to get both.

What kills me the most is that this pretty much destroys the chance for the awesome awesome Cyclonus Universe figure we saw earlier this year being a Voyager. That would have been an awesome update to the G1 figure. I await him anxiously nonetheless.

A few more pics of the City Commander upgrade kit, this time straight from the source. The main point of interest is that we've now seen the BFG posed in three different configurations - one where it fits over the hand and points straight out from the elbow (sort of like a ridiculously long version of Mega Man's arm cannon), one with the barrel mounted above the hand and pointing forward, looking much like an oversized handgun, and now, one with the barrel doubled back over the arm.
