Thread: Transformers

  1. I dunno, I still see Animated 'Screamer in just about every store I check. But then, he's such a departure from the iconic G1 look I can understand a lack of demand.

  2. Must be nice. A majority of collectors have a tough time finding him.

EDIT: I just noticed you said "ANIMATED" Screamer. Yeah he's in just about every store I go into, but I was talking about the rarity of Classics Screamer. Good luck finding HIM on the shelves after a certain date.

Also, if I don't get my hands on Cyclonus. I can already see the Halo Warthog customs coming out of Hound.

    Transformers Universe Special Editions?

    Monday, September 22nd, 2008 5:28AM CDT

Pictures of two new, so far as yet unmentioned repaints have been posted by ACToys user Comus.

These repaints are of the recently released Optimus Prime and Megatron from the Classics Ultimate Battle two-pack. Both repaints are more faithful to their G1 selves, but that is not the only difference for these figures.

The packaging features black and white art of the characters on matte black boxes, more alike to the recently released Music Label Soundwave and Frenzy Rumble, than anything previously seen in the Classics/Universe line.
Silver text on the boxes indicate that these two figures are "Transformers Universe Special Edition 01" and "Transformers Universe Special Edition 02".

To add further intrigue, both boxes preview yet another character to be released in this "Special Edition" series, "SE-03 Dragstip (a repaint of Classics Mirage), and SE-04 Overkill (a repaint of Classics Grimlock), both in similar black and white character art.

  6. Those Universe SE look like Generation 2 models. Not really all that impressive looking from the pictures.

Ugh, he literally looks like a walking pile of shit. In happier news, we now know how the Universe SEs will be distributed:
Universe Special Edition Figures to be Hasbro Toy Shop Exclusives in United States
Posted on 09-22-2008 at 01:25 PM by Tim Formas

Hasbro Toy Shop has put up pre-orders for three of the four figures that were reported this morning to be part of the Transformers Universe Special Edition line. The listings indicate that these figures were originally intended for the Asian market, but are being brought to the United States as Hasbro Toy Shop exclusives. The pre-orders for the figures, as well as images of the figures and packaging, can be seen at the links below.

    SE-01 Optimus Prime Pre-Order
    SE-02 Megatron Pre-Order
    SE-04 Overkill Pre-Order

There is currently no pre-order up for SE-03 Drag Strip.
Optimus and Megs aren't worth buying again at that price IMO (the new color scheme on Megs is nice, but let's face it, that mold sucks), but Overkill looks great.

There's also word of yet another Mirage repaint, this one red, as well as a "premium" Cliffjumper. As for the already-known Dragstrip, he may not be up for preorder yet, but a pic has leaked anyway:

Ugh, that's downright garish. So far looks like just Overkill for me.

Finally, some news on Alternity Convoy:
Alternity GT 'Syncrotech' Diagrammed Transformation Images

Tformers has gotten a hold of a new scan from Figure Ou magazine, the very same magazine responsible for the 'Mickey-formers' news.

This scan shows the transformation of the vehicle to robot mode, and diagrams some of the Alternity GT's syncrotech (think automorph) technology. By pushing or pulling certain parts it causes other parts to automatically (to a degree) transform.

Check out the engineering involved by clicking here!
    And the image:

Not sure I'll be getting this - $50 for something the size of a Deluxe is a bit off the wall imo - but it does look pretty nice.

  8. I wish they fixed the c-pillar and window. If I pick it up ... I will have to mod it myself. That bugs the shit out of me, it looks like they used tinfoil for the two pieces. WTF?

  9. I agree, doesn't look that great (and small). Hopefully the finished model will look better.

  10. I actually think it looks great, other than the c-pillar/back side window combo of fail.
