Thread: Family Guy: Season 5

  1. American Dad has been INCREDIBLE for the last three episodes. It's my favorite show on TV now, while Family Guy has just been an unfunny mess for the new season. I didn't laugh at all for the first two episodes, although the one that played this Saturday was okay. It's just really disappointing considering the first three seasons were so great. The main problem is that the flashbacks and references are just there to be flashbacks and references, rather than referencing stuff and making it funny.

American Dad is bringing back that witty, intelligent comedy that made Futurama so popular. Of course, it's by Seth McFarlane, so it's still not as smart as Futurama, but it's your best option in animation right now. Anyone that's ignoring American Dad because of the pilot episode is doing just as much of a disservice to themselves as they would if they ignored Futurama because of the first episode. The central storylines have been awesome too.

Two weeks ago: Stan's daughter is sleeping with his boss, but Stan doesn't do anything about it because he wants a promotion. The fish does DVD director commentary during the final five minutes, which is brilliant.

Last week: Steve, the son, is hitting puberty and is curious about sex and masturbation. Stan, being the super-right conservative, tells Steve that sex in all forms is bad, but ends up getting addicted to masturbation because of it... Steve catches his dad jerking off, and everything goes crazy.

The Simpsons on Sunday was funny as shit too. They still do funny occassionally on that show, depending on who writes and oversees which episode.

I also like when Chris realizes what he's heard in a delayed reaction fashion.

Chieftain: "Now, you are married to my daughter."
Chris: "Thank you. Anything that makes you happy makes me happy, and HUUHHWWWWWWWWHHHHAAAAAATTT?!!!"

I can't believe they got Star Wars Kid in there.

That's very true, although I liked the episode where Brian is spending a lot of time with his new girlfriend and Peter is watching tv with her instead of Brian,

Peter: "Hey Meg, what's that? Is that dog on the tv? Yeah, it's a dog"
    (knocks on the wall)
"Who's there? Is somebody at the door? Is there somebody at the door?"

Meg "I'm not a dog you Bastard!"

I laughed pretty hard at that

I did not find this funny at all. I understand that Peter isn't a normal dad and this isn't a normal family but Meg flat out calling her father a bastard just seems a little too unrealistic to me
I thought you were gay.... i guess not.

  8. Saw the movie last night. 30 minutes does not stretch out to a feature very well, does it? There were good jokes in there, but you fall asleep waiting for them.

That's not the first time she's said something like that. It completely fits with how she's treated.
