I never once saw an Elite using two plasmas at once. I just finished replaying Halo 2 last night as well.

From what I remember Elites have never used dual plasma swords in actual gameplay. Only in different art relating to the Halo universe. I very well could be wrong though.

Nope, they didn't. They also never had blood that splattered either.

I could have sworn I saw an Elite with two swords in the first Halo, but yeah, maybe it was just in the graphic novel.

Just saw on CAG that there is an ad in the new issue of Gamepro for Crackdown. On the bottom right corner of the ad it says it includes an invitation to the Halo 3 beta.

Smart move by MS. That will definitely sell a few copies of a game that doesn't look all that great to a few idiots who want an invitation that badly.
