Go to Nintendo WFC > Nintendo WFC Settings > Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection Settings > Select "Erase Settings" under one of the connection profiles.
You can always add back your old connection again. I'd say to keep the library profile in there since that seems to be one that would be hard to recover.

  2. OK, so I picked this up this evening and will get a chance to play it when I get back to my dorm room later.

Quick question about playing online: tomorrow afternoon I will be hanging out at a local Starbucks for an hour or two waiting for my sister to get out of class. They have free access to wireless internet. Will I be able to play Mario Kart online sitting in there?
I thought you were gay.... i guess not.

Only if you have a wireless lap top with the Nintendo USB adaptor plugged into it.

  4. God damn.

  5. Tragic: I suffered this dissapointment the other day, walked into a Starbucks with my DS and new copy of Mario Kart, picked up a Chai Egg Nog Latte, and sat down to search for a connection. Tmobile wifi hotspot found, blue unlocked icon, ready to roll! Testing connection.....testing connection.........cannot connect. I called Nintendo, apparently there's a user agreement you have to access at Starbucks that the DS can't get to.

Some numbers just in: Over 112,000 copies of MKDS sold in it's first week at retail and over 52,000 of those copies have gone online. That's a staggering success.

  6. Has anyone tried playing the Single Player "Vs" mode with hard computers? They're bitchin. Good practice for online, since 150cc bots aren't really that difficult.

  7. Nintendo Wifi is a big success across the board so far. Nintendo reports that approximately 45% of folks who bought the game in its release week have gone online with the game. Compare that to the initial 18% who took Halo online and that is impressive:

November 21, 2005 - According to Nintendo, in one week more than 45% of the people who have purchased Mario Kart DS have taken their game online via the free Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection service.

In just one week, more than 112,000 copies of Mario Kart DS have been sold in the US. Of that number more than 52,000 unique system/game pairs have connected to the online service for Wi-Fi multiplayer gaming.

"We are ecstatic with the results, and this definitely sets the standard for future Wi-Fi online gaming," said Beth Lewellyn, Nintendo's senior director of public relations. "Mario Kart should easily be a million seller in its life cycle, and we'd love for everyone with the game to touch the Wi-Fi experience. We've got Animal Crossing just around the corner, and Metroid Prime Hunters next year, with more to come."

Comparatively, Microsoft reported last year that after three weeks on store shelves, just 18 percent of Halo 2 owners had played that game on Xbox Live.
Issues with the ultra-simple lobby aside, this is great news and there is officially no more need to worry about Nintendo being skittish about taking on their other games online. Bring on AC and Hunters.

  8. So now that some of us has had time to play this game, what's the verdict on Mario Kart DS? Has it eclipsed the SNES Mario Kart as the best Mario Kart ever?
    R.I.P. Paragon Studios

  9. Definitely.

Though I wish the powerslide didn't create such a large skill gap, to make things more even for those who haven't mastered it.

  10. WTF my R button is fucking up, just like it has on my last two SPs.

    ???
I'm not the only one, then. Both my GBA and SP wound up with fucked up shoulder buttons. The GBA I can understand, as it was always in my pocket, but the SP was set down one night just fine, and the next morning, no R button.
