Thread: Official Xbox 360 launch thread.

  1. One thing that i never expected to be looking forward to is the new Xbox Live Arcade. Unlike the current setup, games will only cost $5-$10 and free demos will be provided for each title. Confirmed developers include Capcom, Bizzare, EA, Harmonix, Hudson, Konami, Midway, Namco, Q Entertainment, Sega, SNK, Vivendi, Ubisoft, and quite a few other smaller companies.
    The Xbox Live Arcade for Xbox 360 launch portfolio will include the following titles through the Christmas holiday season 2005:

    * Astropop – Popcap Games
    * Bankshot Billiards 2™ – pixelStorm, Inc
    * Bejeweled 2 – Popcap Games
    * Crystal Quest – Stainless Games
    * Feeding Frenzy – Popcap Games
    * Gauntlet – Midway Home Entertainment
    * Geometry Wars 2 – Bizarre Creations
    * Hardwood Backgammon – Silver Creek Entertainment
    * Hardwood Hearts – Silver Creek Entertainment
    * Hardwood Spades – Silver Creek Entertainment
    * Hexic® HD – Microsoft Game Studios
    * Hoopworld – Streamline Studios
    * Jewel Quest – iWin.com
    * Joust – Midway Home Entertainment
    * Marble Blast Ultra – GarageGames
    * Mutant Storm Reloaded – PomPom Games
    * Outpost Kaloki – Wahoo Studios
    * Robotron 2084 – Midway Home Entertainment
    * SmashTV – Midway Home Entertainment
    * Wik: Fable of Souls – Reflexive Entertainment
    * Zuma – Popcap Games

    Zero games I want at launch + silly price = no purchase.

    I really wanted one too.

    The only thing that really interests me on the 360, are the multimedia functions and XBL. I will own one .. but probably for less than 200 dollars. That could be 2 years away.

    That will give me time to find a place for the 360 power supply.

    that's a dev machine though, I'm sure the power cord will be different on the retail builds...

    p.s. ignore that "editted by cka" thing in your post, I hit edit instead of quote

    I have to agree with this, the lineup looks overall pretty weak to me

    at least MS is learning from Nintendo and putting the invertor outside the system it looks like should helpt hings run cooler in the system

    Agreed. MS should have moved Halo 2 to a 360 Launch title.

    Again I ask, what happened to Halo 2.5?

    I, too, wasn't really paying attention to Live Arcade. Now, I'm thinking it could be one of console's best attributes. Lots of potential.

    I'm surprised at people suggesting that it's a weak launch line-up, but I guess people like what they like. For me, I see plenty of games that I would like to check out: PGR3, DOA4, Oblivion, and Top Spin 2. The most recent hands-on reports for PDZ, Call of Duty 2, Kameo, have been surprisingly favorable. A pretty deep launch, imo, with most genres covered.

Splinter Cell 4 (the only good Tom Clancy series) will be another factor that will nudge me towards a 360 purchase, as will Street Fighter Anniversary Collection, Phantom Dust, and KOF 2003 being added to the list of backward compatible titles.
    Save your money and play those games on Xbox now, something tells me NGBC and KOF XI won't be worth half a shit. I finally got to play Neowave the other week. It (and their other Atomiswave games) convinced me of three things:

    1. SNK is dead.
    2. Shockingly, their sprites CAN get uglier. Putting them on nice backgrounds makes them that much more horrifying.
    3. Anyone who is still getting excited over new KOFs needs to be put out of their misery. Go play the old ones, they're still good. Shit like Neowave needs to be ignored. Not to mention Maximum Impact.

    I have no interest in getting one of these at launch, but I'll keep entering my Mountain Dew cap codes.

  9. Xbox 360 II

    I don't know about you guys but I'm buying 15 copies of Kameo.

    Actually the launch games I will probably get from the list above look like so:

    So three games you should be buying on PC, two shit Rare games, another over-hyped Sega game, and two legitimate titles? I hope you get a discount.
