Maybe you need a better chair and a better monitor.

I could just as easily say 'I'd rather be playing in WUXGA on my 23" widescreen Apple Cinema Display sitting in my comfy leather chair than sprawled out on my shitty Ikea sofa playing on a 13" non widescreen tv.'

  2. OK, pardon my ignorance but how exactly does the free XBox Live feature work on 360? What I mean is, if it's "free" does that mean I can compatible XBox1 games like Burnout or Halo 2 for free on 360?

Anyways, I won't be able to afford one of these until sometime next year assuming i have a new job by then.

  3. basically, free can do everything BUT play games online, for that you'll need the gold subscription.

  4. so basically it's pointless.

  5. but it's free!

  6. I'll wait for Mass Effect. It's a really good lineup, but nothing appeals to me so it's not up my alley. Oblivion is somehting I want, but I'm going to be waiting for the PC equivalent for sure.

Again, they've got just about every genre covered with a solid title, which is more than any previous console launch that I recall.
    Powerstone.

  7. And NFL 2k1. The DC launch was the best, something for everyone. The US PS2 launch was by far the worst. SSX, Madden and Fantavision. That party game I can't remember the name of right now too. There was a good 6 month dry spell after launch too.

Hows 23" better than 46" again? Besides, I play a lot of multiplayer games with my friends and sharing a chair and a 23" monitor just isnt going to cut it. PC gaming has always been and always will be for one player only. (Yes, theres online, but I'm talking about REAL friends.)
Korly-"Everyone here is an asshole, SURPRISE!"

  9. It isn't like 1280x720 progressive is ultra low res either. And isn't 1080i like 1920x1080 or something?

I would agree with this, if my year old PC didn't run CoD2 right now, at the highest graphical settings (though to be fair, you can't turn everything on maximum in the demo, despite being nearly 700mb as is), at higher resolution than 720p, with AA/AF, and at a considerably higher framerate.

Personally, my choice of going with CoD2 on PC just comes down to the kind of shooter it is, and how it plays. I'm not the kind of person that says kb/mouse is a prerequisite for an FPS being playable, but some games are just much faster paced, and more well suited to the precision gained by a mouse/kb. Where as, a game like Oblivion or Condemned, which are both significantly slower paced games (and of course, single player experiences) is a great fit for a console, where you can just sit back and relax with the game. Both of which I'll be going with the console versions, too.
Buy Yakuza and Oblivion. Help yourself, help TNL.
