  2. Think I'll pick this up after I Finish FFV.

  3. i figured i could wait on picking up ffv 'cause i don't believe it'll get hard to find any time soon.

  4. Did anyone get this? Any votes for it? Gonna pick it up Friday if it sounds good.

  5. Saw it today, did not have $30.... need to sell off some blood first.

  6. the store i went to didn't have it unpacked yet or something. then i went somewhere else and the guy was like "i don't have that listed" or some bullshit. then my friend called and said he got a copy from the same store.

anyway, from what i've seen of the japanese version it seems like a mix between advance wars, phantasy star online 3 (card revolution) and...uh...fire emblem. but i might be completely wrong.

It certainly has similarities to those games. Oddly enough it reminds me of Warsong the most. I've only fought a few battles, maybe five, so I'm probably not familiar enough with it to make the call.

Basic premise is; You pick a card at the beginning of a round. The card has stats that affect your troops. One of the more important stats is Mov., which is a pool of movement spaces that everyone draws from. It's kinda weird at first, but it works well within the confines of the game.

There is an insane number of variables to keep in mind while battling, and eventually there are special skills that can be used during battle. Only one attack per round is allowed per side, which I thought was going to ruin the game early on, but they added Union Attacks, which hover somewhere between Flippin' Sweet and Totally Rad.

Each unit has a formation type(I think some later units don't have formation at all) which is a cross for female units, and an X for male units, and each extends two squares out. If the initiator of the battle has another unit in their formation, then they get to attack as well. If you fight a single unit, both attack the single unit. If you fight another unit with units in their formation, a single battle occurs between each in order of priority.

There seems to be a lot more to it. It borrows the towns on the battlefield from Fire Emblem, and the trinity of weapon affinity as well(Axes hurt spears, spears hurt swords, swords hurt axes).

All in all, it's entirely badass. Completely worth getting.
    A is for action

  8. Sweet, picking this up tomorrow then.

  9. For my money, I just don't think strategy is ever going to be better done than Front Mission 3.
    Boo, Hiss.

  10. And by Front Mission 3, you mean Tactics Ogre Let Us Cling Together right?
