Thread: Nintendo and McDonalds form unholy union to destroy the PSP and your health

  1. "The DS does not internally support a TCP stack or any IPv4/IPv6 communications at all. This is why the DS cannot be played online without the use of tunneling... Ni-Fi is a layer 3 protocol on top of 802.11."
That doesn't sound right. If it required any form of tunneling, then it wouldn't be able to connect through a standard wi-fi router alone, but we already know that it can do just that.

I'm confused. If I go to a McDonalds can I only play against the people in that McDonalds?

What would be the point of limiting yourself to that McDonalds when the DS owners can connect to each other ad hoc? This partnership meant for cross country gaming.

  4. "dude can you pause it.....i gotta go squirt out this extra value meal i just ate"

  5. WiFi from the can ftw.

  6. I don't see how PSP can survive it.

Took the words right outta my mouth. "Momma, momma, can we have in-tuhr-net so we can play our DS's online???"

"You shut up Billy Ray, that's whut McDonald's is for, bless 'em."

I'll play MK and AC online in the comfort of my home away from greasey fries, preservative saturated patties and yelling kids, thank you very much.

You're getting confused by the wording, the article is just comparing Nintendo's online service in general to Sony and Xbox's by saying it's free, you just need a wireless internet connection and needlessly attatching "at home". The whole point of the McDonalds thing is you walk into McDonalds, turn on your DS, and can play online free.

It won't work with PSP because the DS uses a very specific range much lower than the PSP or a typical laptop. Nintendo's gone out of their way to make sure you can play the DS at any hotspot, but that special Nintendo hotspots are only compatible with the DS. I'm impressed.

UMD movies go on clearance everywhere November 14th, you heard it here first :P
