Thread: Sony introduces a new pricing tier for PSP...

  1. This would make alot more sense if it came with a longer-lasting battery.

  2. Bacon McShig's making good points. Sony should be releasing a bare-bones system and let people decide what accessories they want, not releasing an even more expensive bundle when the original wasn't cheap to begin with. I mean, who wants to pay that much for a glorified DVD player?

Oh, I think the PSP is supposed to play games, too. I forget. Sony has too, I think.

    Agreed. DS >>>> PSP.

And I thought Sony originally said back in the day they wouldn't bother with a handheld until they solved the battery life issue.

  3. Yeah. Honestly, the only reason I don't own a DS at this point is because I have too many games to play with just the two consoles. I don't want to throw a whole other source into the mix, or I'll have to eat and sleep with one hand on a gamepad.

  4. Would you ever have dreamed a year later TNL is burying the PSP and holding the DS as the new standard in handhelds?

I remember a year ago, some people were saying the PSP would be the new Ipod.

To this day, even while overclocking, I've yet to run my battery out, whether it's on a plane, or a road trip.

Really? What's the longest you've had it running for?

  7. I haven't got a PSP myself yet. I have been interested in getting one and this new bundle may finally convince me to get one. I know if I buy one I would have to get a 1Gb memory card to go with it and that added approx. $100 to my cost. This bundle takes care of that issue.

To me, this is not a gaming deck, but a multimedia deck. You can take music and movies with you, and as a bonus you can play games as well. That is where the 1Gb memory stick becomes valuable - I can fit 200 songs (at 64WMA) and still have room for game saves; I can download PSP movies and fit them on the memory card to watch. Instead of carrying an ipod and a pmp, I can take my PSP and listen to music, watch a movie and play a game all with the same unit.

I do agree that companies need to allow the consumer to buy an unbundled system if they so desire. Many will want to get the bundles with games included, but I have always preferred bare-bones systems and then shop for the best price on a game or peripheral that I want. I am not looking forward to the crappy way the XBox 360 will be distributed (there should be no way to end up with an XBox without a hard drive - it removes much of the advantage of the system over it's competitors and removes the backwards compatibility)...

3ish hours overclocked. And on a trip I watched Spiderman 2 and Terminator 2 without a problem.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not blinded by the PSP. I'm currently playing Dawn of Sorrow and having a lot more fun with that, but all this hate is a bit unwarranted, software selection aside.

  9. The only time i ever ran out my battery on that thing was when i listened to music on it for an entire week of work without charging..

Other then that i never kill my battery, rarely is it ever on the last third either.

To me still the DS is not interesting me, not many of the games seem so REVOLUTIONARY to get me to buy the fat thing, i still use the psp for its other features the DS doesnt have.

Ill give you one thing though, when nintendo said they wouldnt go online till it could be done right, wow did they mean it. Nintendo just shoved a foot up psps online thing. I can see it now, PSP WIFI AT BURGER KING AND TACO BELLL

Plus that USB wifi thing for it would make the whole psp online thing and accessability to the internet with browser and other things ect a lot better.

Me sees sony copying, or many 3rd party taking advantage of the idea,
although i wondered why they hadnt done it to being with around launch....

    EDIT:::

Oh i just realized why. They are going to be pitching the PS3 LETS YOU USE PSP ONLINE, omg crazy connectivity ect...

I wonder if nintendos doing that too...

People use their PSPs for music? No kidding, amazing what people do these days...

PSP WIFI AT BURGER KING AND TACO BELLL
That would make me sad. If I have to eat fast food, I'd go to BK. And I wonder if Taco Bell wifi will reach the bathrooms..

    Zing?

After Nintendo getting their shit together, I would not doubt that they are, and that they will announce before Sony has a chance to.
