Don't you need the AC adapter to charge it?

  5. Yeah, all I need is a mem stick, in the case of the Value Pack I could get one that's probably double or more the capacity of a 32mb one for under $50, and in the case of the Giga Pack I could find a 1gb one for less than $100. The rest of the stuff included (aside form the AC adapter, which would come with the core pack anyway) might as well be packing peanuts to me.

  6. The notion of a $200 base price on PSP is a fallacy. They lose a good deal on each unit sold; it's a loss-leader for the UMDs. They just hide the true cost behind the value pack so they can quote a lower price publicly.

So releasing a "bare bones" PSP would actually constitute a price drop for them. Earlier this year that they were introducing a "new pricing model" for the system's lifetime, one which wouldn't see the regular schedule of price drops. Sony's taken a new direction of trying not to eat cost now that Kutaragi is deposed; their other units are bleeding money and they need the Playstation division to be a cash cow rather than in the red like it has been.

You might see an announcement of a $200 PSP at next E3 if they percieve a need to jumpstart sales.

At this point some of you could probably grab onto your pussy lips and fly away into the night like Dracula.

blah, blah, blah... you'll have one before the year is out just so you can play Smackdown PSP.
