Thread: Sony introduces a new pricing tier for PSP...

  1. Why don't you fools just wait till the price drop like the rest of us poor people so you don't have to post about it :-/
Dont be a robot, be human.
    PSN: Di3heart

  2. Ashen, I don't like the SDs all that much, and have no desire to pay $50 for an inferior version of something I already won't be spending $50 on. Very nice generalization though. The GBA Firepros already fill my desire for portable wrestling games, and with a Firepro likely hitting the DS, I'd have no need for an SD game. Much like how the WWE games on GBA are rendered useless by the Firepros. That blah blah blah stuff is quite disrespectful as well. This Giga pack is a limited edition release, just made for the holiday rush, according to IGN. This gives me hope that they'll do a barebones release after this well dries up.

Must someone explain the Capitalist Market and Supply and Demand to you?
Considering that the PSP has been selling and less each month maybe you should tell Sony about "Supply and Demand."

  4. Before I go back to read the rest of the thread I just wanna say this: sweet fancy gifilte fish, are they outta their ever lovin' minds??!?!?? Sony = teh arrogant. These are seriously Sega level mistakes.

Way to sway those fence-sitters, Sony.
    Indeed.

Giga pack = the mental defective suicide strategy.

SCEA: "Gentleman, the DS has an impressive lineup this holiday and the 360 is imminent. To combat them, let's offer the bargain hunters, "hardcore" crowd and fence sitters widely hated high priced bundles and absolutely no bare bones bargain pack." Yes men: "Great idea, sirs! 'Cuz GTA LC will sell all those bundles!"

Yowza. Just...wow. PSP = great system with awful management strategy.

  5. If you're interested in buying a PSP, this pack is a good idea. I would have bought it, the 1GB stick would have been worth it.

Of course, if you're not interested in a PSP, this is not going to change your mind about one. You're not the intented audience for this. With firmware downgraders existing and emulation being as good as it is, there's no reason not to buy this pack over the standard one and enjoy savings on the price of a 1GB memory stick anyway.

That kind of helps his points along man... just so you know.

  7. How? The Public Demand for the PSP will serioulsy be hurt by this.

Sony is acting as if the PSP has some huge userbase that they can leech off of. When the Public learns that Sony has no plans to lower the price for this thing the public demand for it will fall. Especially when the other portable devices that can do the same things really start to push for marketshare.

Who will buy this? Most of the people who have not purchased a PSP already are waning away becuase of the price. Offering a jacked up bundle with no barebones buindle besides it is a slap in the face to the people who waited. That includes me.

I don't know what you're waiting for. The "value pack" didn't really come with that much. Remote, headphones, soft case, wrist strap, demo UMD. The 32MB memory stick is dirt cheap, too. Even if they didn't include that, is that $50 of value there? That is the bare bones bundle, pretty much, unless you want them to leave the battery out.

I've never seen a system with so little software create so much whining about pricing. If you really want one, suck it up. If you really want a PSP, $250 isn't all that bad. Picked up a few extra shifts for a while and didn't eat at restaurants much. Painless, really, especially considering I got to play said PSP on a bunch of those desk shifts.

I don't see this as a "slap in the face" or whatever the fuck. Try to get a PSP, 1GB memory stick, and USB cable for under $300 elsewhere. I'm not trying to sell people on the system if they don't want it (and it sounds like most of those whining about the price don't really want it), but if you do want one, this is NOT a bad thing.

  9. What avatar said.

Yeah, technically you get a better deal on a 1 gig stick with the bundles but there is no escaping the fact that it is outrageously expensive for folks who still can't even afford the existing $250 "value" pack. If Sony has any brains at all regarding the PSP this season, they will wisen up and offer a new bare bones pack within a month. Otherwise I predict DS and other multimedia devices like the IPod nano are at the very least going to outsell it by a considerable margin this holiday season.

Giga pack for folks who have extra $ and want 1gig stick, fine. But they could have at least have also priced a generic stand alone pack for $199 and at least strategically lessened the price gap between it and the DS, but no.

Oh well, I already have my PSP. Just stinks for the others, that is for sure.

    Down with bundles.

Indeed, why don't you write them a letter and tell them what they can do to captivate the Mingy Twat Audience that you belong to?
