Thread: Ideal location to live as a collector?

  1. Get your @$$ to mars. Or eat a mars bar (on sale this week @ Walgreens)

Probably Midwest. We don't really get hurricanes, quakes, typhoons, tsunamis, or shit. All we get is freezing cold. And blizzards don't ruin houses.

If you mean "Where are all the cool game stores to buy games to collect?" Probably CA, with Game Dude and all the import shops. MN doesn't have shit for good indie stores, but at least we won't lose all of our loot from quakes.
You don't have to be smart; you don't have to know the facts, you just have to be confident.

  2. This is a good thread, because I'd like to know a good place to store my Beanie Babies, baseball cards and stuffed animals.

  4. I think going at this from a natural disaster perspective is wrong. The northeast is pretty bad for collectors, big temperature shifts with the season and it can get very humid. Metals are more apt to rust, and plastics do not deal with extreme temperatures well. I would say the southwest is probably best. Nice and dry, constant temps.

  5. Salt mines.

  6. Australia.

The only natural disaster we ever get is drought.

  7. And big goddamn spiders. You down-underers have all that poision shit down there, don'tcha?

Aha, almost tricked everyone. Good show.

  8. Renters/home owners insurance ftw. Just take lots of pictures of your shit, and replace if necessary. It's a pain in the ass but better than nothing.

  9. I've lived north of Atlanta for my entire life, and the biggest threat I've ever encountered was an ice storm, which is no threat if you just pick a house without overhanging tree limbs. There are tornado warnings every so often, but they almost never touch down in the more populated areas. Our winter weather is much more bearable than points north, and the summer weather isn't bad (I don't even think we even went over 100f at all this year).

    Also, there's a Fry's here.

Poison will not ruin your collection.
