As I've already mentioned, old wives' tales are centered around certain subjects such as health, pregnancy and puberty. This is typically what separates it from a common tall tale.

For instance, a common wives tale is that eating carrots improves your night vision, or that having sex standing up is a contraceptive. Because Robobo is not a wife, nor does he truly address the subjects of health, pregnancy or puberty he is not telling wives tales, as I've already explained. I'm sure there are exceptions to the rule where the tales address other issues, but they're called exceptions.

The Olde Wise Tales is a small play on the term, and you're the first person I've ever heard who has some kind of issue understanding it, and accepting it. I hope you weren't expecting us to change it on your behalf.

I do take artistic and writing suggestions seriously, but most have an understanding that these changes come over time and not over night. Not only that, but I do take suggestions in stride. It is easy to critique someone elses work, but the fact that our comic has grown from about 120 views to around 1000 speaks more about it than a small group of people known to be overly harsh on everything does. I'm learning through experience rather than theory, which is something those who have stated "When I start my webcomic I'm going to..." have yet to do.

I think Fury Fox, rezo, and Mech Deus are all talented guys, and I've taken their advice and am trying or have tried to find a way in to making it in to the comic such as establishing Jimmy and Grace's relationship. Also, trying to find a unique voice is something we want to do, but it's going to take time as we figure out for ourselves what kind of voice is it exactly that we want and half the fun of this thing is improving and bettering yourself on the journey. Quite frankly I think our comic is already better than Theater Hopper's and for what's out there on the internet right now we're not half bad.

If you merely aim to help us improve then thank you, but if your intention is to deter us from continuing the comic then you're wasting your time. I have a lot of fun doing this, our audience has grown over 9 or so times what it was just 3 months ago and a few naysayers aren't going to end it for us. I think I'm a little bit more civil when going about this than Jonas is.

May as well close TNL with that thought process.

  5. No, not at all. It's just that this thread really isn't going anywhere and you two aren't helping things at all.
"Chuy, you're going to have a magical life. Because no matter where you go, it's always going to be better than Tucson."

  6. I agree with that. Although I'd say Andrew is far more accepting than I am. I will admit that but when somebody says 'You suck' and I defend myself... they should expect it.

It's fine, stop overreacting. First Blood had a very vague understanding of what an old wives tale was and I explained to him what, specifically, it was.

You do know that we just made it up and weren't referencing anything? Right?
You could at least stick with one excuse. And I've never heard of anyone ever calling a silly story a "wise tale."

Expect what? For you to act like an idiot? Everytime you defend yourself you either contridict earlier statements, don't make any sense, or show off that you don't know what something means. It's not that Andrew is more accepting, it's that he's more rational and understanding.

To me it never replaced being able to look at the screen/paper/whatever. I still long for the day when I can get my hands on a Cintiq (which if all goes well will be within the next few months), to have the pressure levels and response of the tablet coupled with being able to draw directly on the screen. The tablets are still quite nice.

    I agree.

I didn't even know how to activate the pressure levels until last comic when I was messing around. I always had the flow cranked up to 100%. I accidentally put it down to about 60% or so and started doodling and it helped a hell of a lot. I also gave up on trying to draw perfectly straight lines by hand and use the line tool instead, which is why the doors in the recent comics don't look like they've been horribly raped by large mammals.

Cintiq is awesome, and I want one. I have enough desposable income for seven of them but I can't bring myself to buy one. Everytime I want one and have it in hand I remind myself how I don't really need one because I have an Intous. Plus for what I'm doing with it it's a huge waste of money too. I may put in half and get my friends to pool together for the other half come May (my birthday), but I can't bring myself to buy it.

Some programs have issues with pressure sensitivity which can be really annoying. I think Painter had some problems I had to iron out with the Wacom and my Optoma screen just plain didn't register with that at all in Photoshop. That made me a sad panda.
