Thread: Megaman Powered Up PSP Official thread

  1. They look a little blocky, but also looks like something that will look very nice in motion. I wonder... Do we get a huge-headed Roll too?
    Donk

  2. I really hate this super deformed look. To the extent that I doubt I'd buy the game.

"All creatures will DIE, and all things will be BROKEN: That is the law of the SAMURAI."

  3. i usually hate most things super deformed or whatever. but...it's megaman.

  4. I love the super deformed look, really.
If anything, makes me want this game more and I have a strange desire to roll around in a pile of them.

As for a super deformed Roll, here you go!

Capcom.com has what look like mockups for both the Megaman Powered Up and X U.S. covers and they are exactly as what you just said. Nintendo still does this a lot too with their games. Ex: Mario Sunshine Jap cover: Mario and some of the characters in Delfino plaza. U.S. cover: Bland off-white background with big sun medallion and Mario looking "serious" with his waterpack. yawn

Why do U.S. game companies insist on making bland covers with some annoying looping font going around the character? Grrrrrr.

Although I agree with you on a whole that companies changing the Japanese box for an American audience, well, I don't quite see the difference between the American and Japanese boxes for Mario Sunshine. Here's a picture I found:

As for Megaman, yeah, they should totally stick with that Japanese box. That Japanese box rocks.

  10. There are a scant few times I think American cover art gets changed for the better.

    Take Contra III, for instance...

The one we all know and love/loathe. All macho and kinda cheesy, but laid out fairly nicely, and fairly representative of what's in store when you pop the game into your SNES...

Here's the, um, Japanese version. The logo and the background are cool, and the poses are decent, but, um... the actual characters look, well... sissy. Lance looks like Kurt Russell and Ah-nuld had a child with one of them mutants from Total Recall, and then promptly smashed it's face with a baseball bat. And Bill looks like he's sitting on something phallic, like a curling iron. And likes it.

This isn't the only example of this, but I think it's a pretty good one.
