lol Wow, that Contra III box, is just....wowzers. The femmy guy in the lower part of the cover looks kinda like SNL's Chris Katan.
Hmmm. I'm sorry, I must have gotten my memory mixed up with a poster I saw for the game, or maybe it was a NP cover. Hmmmm. Anyways, my bad.Originally Posted by Geen
No word on that yet. It sure would be nice though, especially if you could use the level editor to make your own 8-bit map layouts. And whenever they make the inevitable Megaman 2 Powered Up, it'd definitely be even sweeter to have the original 8-bit rev included. Edit your own Metal man or Air man stage.Originally Posted by GameFreak

i'll just wait 10/15 years for them to do a megaman powered up collection on some system. i guess capcom's probably gonna do the same with irregular hunter x.
Keeping in mind that you can play as any of the robot bosses in the game, check out these awesome new pics:

The demo on the MMX UMD was great, I am sold.
The demo had me sold already, but the bosses being playable? Awesome. I absolutely can't wait for this. I never thought I'd actually encouraging Capcom to be doing MORE rereleases, but between this and the Maverick Hunter X series, it seems like they're finally putting some effort and some love into it. I still can't say enough good things about MHX. Can't wait to get my hands on Powered Up.
Anyone who has played the Cutman demo knows both the "powered up" and classic layout offer a nice challenge. Jeremy Parish's new Retronaughts on MM Powered up confirms the overall game itself is as tough as ever. His opinion so far is that it's one amazing package of fan service. One gripe is that control and hit detection aren't quite as tight as they could be due to some "wonkiness" with the new 3D animations (i didn't have too much trouble with the demo's control myself outside of the old "sliding" he does on platforms after stopping). Also has some nice impressions of the level editor. Anyways, here are some cool tidbits:

Powered Up is a complete reimagining of the very first game, supervised by Inafune and digging deep into the series mythos. (Such as it is.)Oh yes -- and the ability to unlock and play as bosses.
......take them down with your normal blaster and Dr. Light can revert their programming to the good team, which allows you to play through the entire game as those characters... complete with unique dialogue.By and large, Powered Up seems to do the original Mega Man justice. The one missing element is a pixel-perfect port of the NES game... but apparently you can download 8-bit stages from Capcom's servers, so maybe there's no reason to complain.

OK, this is worth a bump I think. Another recent 1up feature from Parish, this story is almost exclusively about the level editor. "Very simple to use, very addictive," only drawbacks are you cannot have more than one boss per custom stage and no way to import custom textures (due to copyright and uh, "other" issues):

And as if playing as all the bosses wasn't cool enough, you can also play as Roll:
