Thread: Blockbuster might file for bankruptcy

  1. In CT, they have Tommy K's video. I used to be an assistant manager at the Branford store. That place is never going out of business because the owner knows how to correctly balance prices, late fees and underpaid employees perfectly. Blockbuster should hire him, he'd fix shit up in a week.

  2. I can't understand why it's so fucking hard to return a movie on time. Usually when I watch a movie I take it back after I watched it.

I'm glad BB is dying. Rental stores are totally 80s anyway. Netflix and Gamefly like stuff is killing BB just like BB killed all the ma and pa stores that actually had decent prices and a good backlog of old movies.

The thing that will kill Gamefly and Netflix will be Mega-super-dooper-accelerated high speed internet hooked up to your computer or TV, where you can DL movies/games in 1/2 a second for $2 each.
You don't have to be smart; you don't have to know the facts, you just have to be confident.

Yeah, plenty of people did that; I worked at the busiest store in the district when they started the program.

They're scarce, but some franchise stores get to make up their own stuff.

And it doesn't matter how they set up it up, people are stupid and will always find a way to screw themselves ("OMG midnight? What percent of the people become too tired or involved in something else to return it by midnight?"). Happened when they decided to extend rentals until the next noon ("OMG I can't remember to bring it in in the morning!") and when they decided to get rid of late fees alltogether ("OMG you mean I couldn't keep the movie forever? I have to pay for it?").

  4. Meh, thanks to netflix I wont miss these guys if they disappeared forever.

  5. This kind've sucks...guess when I decide I want to watch a movie I'll have to go buy it or wait a few days for it to come from NetFlix, that kind've sucks.

    Blockbuster can suck a dick.
Ha, I used to do this as well. They never have a copy of the game I want in though. They had 15 copies of the Hulk game and ONE of Indigo Prophecy. WTF? Who goes to Blockbuster anyway? Netflix is awesome and they have almost every movie you could ever want and they also carry the unrated versions.
