It depends on the later. I mean, if you had some way of getting the song with all of its parts broken up, say... the raw data of the studio it was recorded in, then you could have each channel play a part of lights.

But really, I think it's more the former, if even. There might even just be a control for the outlets. I mean, we're talking about entire strings of lights lighting up on cue, not a bunch of bulbs.

So, just make a device that closes and opens circuits to these lights' plugs and biggity bam.

Seperate midi chanels could trigger different lights/patterns/outlets/whatever.

There you go. A Hyprid approach to what I said then? Device that closes and opens the circuits based off of the MIDI channels?

Someone would still have to program that midi data.

Does the video not got a page online for it> The guy must have said something about it somewhere. I know if I went to all that trouble, I'd like to do a little public wanking over my work.

  7. I wonder how many songs this guy has his house wired up to do?

Since he seems to be able to easily do this for two songs, I'm going to further enforce the idea that he's controlling the lights through a MIDI channel.

I don't think it would be too terribly difficult to program the MIDI data to do this.

  8. How he did it....

    Hardware used:

One cool thing, he broadcasts the music of a low-power FM station from the house, so people driving by can listen to the music, and he doesn't annoy the shit out of his neighbors blasting music..

  9. I'm still impressed by this all.

Better not let my sister see this, less she's going to want me to wire her house up like Carson.
