  1. I saw this today. It blew my mind.

    Yes.

    Eyes Wide Shut 2?

  3. I really liked Eyes Wide Shut.

  4. You also watch Desperate Housewives faithfully, nancy.

    Me too.

But back to this movie. I really like the general concept Shyamalan seems to be going for in this and The Village. The use of restraint, and trying to seemlessly slip absurd elements into normality. But he's so fucking bad at it.

I ignored everything I heard before I saw it myself, but while I think most critics have been (probably deservedly, as Sethsez pointed out) harsh, they are right. I can't think of another movie that was so embarassingly defensive and self-conscious.

  6. Check out the final episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer season 4 for how to do "weird dream shit" right.

Also, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and the upcoming Science of Sleep.

As you should, because it's a really good movie. Unlike this.

Pretty much. He's trying, and I can't blame him for that, but you can't just take something realistic, throw in something fantastic and call it a day. There needs to be some sort of balance and a keen understanding of how it all fits together.

  8. videodrome plz believe

Yeah, it's pretty obvious that Shyamalan was just so overconfident he wrote two extremely lazy screenplays and saw even the glaring flaws in them as stylistic touches.

I hope for his own sake he learns from his past mistakes, but judging from the inclusion of the TERRIBLE death of a critic scene, his future looks grim.

    And yes, Videodrome. A+
