I actually liked the battle system in Jade Empire. It wasn't very challenging, but it was a step in the right direction. From the sounds of it Mass Effect makes a superman-style long jump in comparison.

I think the true test of this game's mettle will be in the exploration factor. Nobody likes to fly around a galaxy that only has 6 planets. That galaxy sucks. But from those impressions we're in for an awesome fucking time.

This is one of only three games I've bought this year -- and the other was The Orange Box for TF2. I always make a special exception to my budget for Halflife.
