Slightly off-topic, but has anyone here tried dropping a mentos into a bottle of coke?

We had some fun with some two liters. I'm fucking exhausted and probably going to crash soon, but long story short: all carbonated sodas seem to work. Diet looks better in videos, but we didn't try it firsthand. Coke was just fine. Strawberry Mentos do not work. It is very possible to insert the Mentos into the bottle and close the lid, but it's also difficult. The shit reacts fast. I had a friend try that with a one liter, and didn't know quite how fast firsthand yet. As a result, he got a liter of soda blasted all over his face.

Fun is to shove some paper towels in the neck of a bottle of a 2 liter of soda, put the Mentos on that, close it, and shake til the paper towel gets soaked and all the mentos are in there. We haven't managed to get a soda to explode from the pressure inside alone, but we've been aiming for it. You can then hurl the bottle as high as you possibly can into the air and enjoy dramatic effects with it hits the ground. Both the top and the bottom of the bottle blow out, shit flies everywhere. We found the paper towel from the top of the bottle forced out through a tiny hole in the bottom.

Long story short, we like to entertain ourstuff with stupid shit on the weekends. Cooking stupid food combinations that generally upset others, playing with fire, and so forth.

So! Back to soda! Jester, have you had Pepsi Nex yet? I'm curious to know what it's like. Not expecting much, as I understand it's just Suntory's stab at the diet/0 cal soda market. The bottles are as sweet as hell, though.
