Yeah, I mentioned Patrices story earlier. It's a gripping tale. Crazy how he hasn't told anyone that story in like 18 years since it happened and he lets it out on a national radio show. The Show has that effect on people though, they get comfortable after awhile and radio gold just comes out.
I love Patrices laugh to, it's so fucking funny when he gets going. Brrrrrrring!

original Howard > Howard on Sirius (can't say for sure, wait and see) > OnA on XM > OnA on FM > recent Howard >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Tough Crowd
That is your prediction, huh? I'm going to laugh in your face when Howard still sucks and you spend the money on Sirius.Originally Posted by portnoyd

I'm sorry I insulted Tough Crowd, but it really, really sucked. I used to watch the Daily Show frequently, and attempted to watch Tough Crowd from the lead-in, but just could not stand it. Maybe it was the people, as I think shows like Curb and AD are the best on TV. The humor was not over my head, it just wasn't there.Originally Posted by Master
And yes, I think Howard will turn things around. Why the hate for Howard? You're clearly biased, so even if he was good, you would still say he sucked publicly. Just go listen to OnA and stop shitting on him.

I'm not biased against Howard. I was a loyal listener for a long time, and I give credit where credit is due. I still try to listen occasionally, but the show rarely holds my attention these days.Originally Posted by portnoyd
But I have to agree with Master, here. Howard's show took a downturn before the FCC crackdown. Being free from it will help his show, sure, but it won't fix the underlying problem; He just doesn't have the passion any more. He's doing 4 days a week, 9 months a year on Sirius. He just isn't into it. He said 1000 times during his speech "I've done it all". He's going into this with an attitude that it's all been done. We'll have to see. I think it will be better than it is now, but I have sincere doubts that he'll be able to catch up to O&A.
When they were both nationally syndicated at Infinity, O&A had a much better show than Howard's (which was still decent at that point) and O&A have really stepped up their game since, and Howard's show has plummeted. I think there's something to that.
I used to be a huge Howard Fan. Then his show took a downturn. Then I found out about how he sabotaged any new up and comer in the Radio industry. Then I found out about the blackmail where Howard tried to get O&A blacklisted from XM and Sirius while in negotiations with both of them. He went out of his way to say "I won't work for a company that employs O&A" and then he went on the air and lied about it. Then he put pressure on Mel Karmazin to make sure O&A sit out for 2+ years. Then he lied about that. Then he claimed O&A ripped him off and that he invented all the things they invented. Then he lied about THAT. There is a theme here.
Tough Crowd wasn't my favorite show ever, in fact when it was off it was way off. I'll let that one rest. If I still thought Howard was funny, I still wouldn't listen. The fact that he is a yeast infection with Middle Age woman hair seals the deal.
Howard Stern is a paranoid non-funny hypocrite that does one thing and says another while his goons kiss his ass. How could anybody respect themselves for listening to something like that? That time in my life is over. Howard is a peice of crap, and I am standing my ground. I hope he fails.
That said, if you like him, Phil Hendrie, or whoever, more power to you. I'm glad somebody is happy about those shows, because it certainly isn't me.
PS: I AM however, interested in how his show is on Sirius. Feel free to keep this thread alive with Howard chat as I want to know what they do differently. I partially want to hear that he fails, but I also am curious.
PPS: More Stern info, for lovers and haters. Good stuff here: http://www.thesmokinggun.com/kingstern/kingstern.html
You're on crack. Tough Crowd was some of the best shit on TV while it was on. Greg Geraldo alone brought enough funny to fill the entire shows on-air run from day one to the finale. Adding Patrice and Jimmy Norton only made it taste that much sweeter, kinda like when the whore you just banged dropped $20 on her way out. Rebate baby!Originally Posted by portnoyd
My guess is the people who didn't like TC or didn't think it was "funny" were not fans of humor that dogged the left more than the right. These are the people who didn't like the fact that Mark Maron was often times kicked square in the nuts for his unhinged Bush bashing. Him and a few other libs (Geraphalo, Judy, etc.) stopped being funny a few months in and simply came off as bitter pricks who'd rather make a "smart point" than a funny joke. That shit doesn't fly on a comedy show.
Sure The Daily Show is funny, but their job is easy ... they can pick on Bush with their eyes closed (who can't) and 49.5% of the country will piss themselves laughing and 25% of the rest will appreciate the fact that it's humor. But turn it around and make jokes about the loony left and 49.5% of the country gets all indignant and shit because god forbid anyone mention that Hillary looks like a constipated horse.
That has NEVER happened to me. And don't think I'm not bitter.Originally Posted by Buzzatronic

Like I said, you may be right, and there is a chance that he may fall flat on his face, but I'll be positive until he does that.
Re: Tough Crowd: Ok, I admit, I can't stand Colin Quinn. I'd turn it on, try to watch, and he would open his stupid mouth, or just be there, and I'd change the channel. Had it been Jim Norton's Tough Crowd, I'd probably watch it and enjoy it.
