Some random movies:
Trading Places
Seven Samurai
M
The Insider
The Graduate
From here on out, everyone make a list of 3-5 movies for a bunch of genres, I'll compile them all and we'll take it from there (weed out some to get a solid list we can all pretty much agree on). Take 'em from any time period, some classics, maybe some overlooked movies...you know, shit like that.

I'm in, and the only way to do this is to have everyone put in an order and have each person pick a movie to study should their time come up. Whether it be good movie or not we have to watch it and talk about it, although good picks will probably be talked about substancially less so than great ones. This is way, way better than everyone throwing out names in some kind of anarchy state.
This would be awesome.
I second The Warriors, by the way.

I'm compiling the list right now from what's been mentioned so far. Let's agree on on how we'll decide who picks the movie.
So far we've had the suggestion where I pick first and then pick the next person to choose and then they pick the next person. Also, Andrews idea of making an order of people (how do we decide that order?) and have your movie choice right there.
What is more appealing, having a big list we agree on and each person then selecting a movie from our master list, or have each person chose their title right from the start?
If we take the master list approach I can put the date the movie is selected next to the title so as we go we know what's selected. I think the best route for a master list is to have a sizable choice and then after we whittle it down as time passes, add another big batch of movies.
Also, any name suggestions for the title of this? Something catchy with less of a Oprah vibe.
