Got any sales numbers for Futurama? As far as I know, it's done really well on DVD, and the movie was never officially announced beyond Billy West saying it was going to happen.

I could see them officially announcing the movie, then using it as a gauge as to whether or not they'll bring the show back. The robot fun collection was also apparently a gauge for interest in the show's resurrection, which probably sold well given its low price.

It's nearly impossible to find sales numbers for dvds because most studios don't release the official numbers, and neither does walmart, which they estimate accounts for 1/3 of dvd sales. I do remember when season 4 of the simpsons was released, season 3 of futurama was selling better than seasons 3&4 of the simpsons combined on amazon for 2 or 3 weeks. And since I think all of the simpsons seasons have sold at least a million copies each, there's at least potential for fairly high dvd sales

I would like to see this course of action take place.

They've always said that Futurama was an exepensive cartoon show to make, but as a movie, it's really cheap. I can't see Fox giving them anywhere near 10 million for a direct to dvd movie, but a little more budget over what the show was could show some terrific results.

Either way, if we get more Futurama in any animated form, I'm happy.

Fuck family guy and American dad. Whats important here is theres a significant chance of there being new episodes of the slickest, smartest, funniest TV show ever produced. This news is really awesome.

Put Futurama on after The Simpsons or right before Family Guy (perhaps both) and move War at Home to 9:30 and you've got yourself one nice Sunday block of TV. This news had me smiling in the office like some kind of crazed lunatic and I sincerely hope this revives the series. I know some of the writers are probably working elsewhere, but the voice cast shouldn't be too much of a problem, should it? Guaranteed work for the next 2 or 3 years is something most voice actors would die for.

I'm more worried that the writers or voice cast have gotten rusty. Its been quite a while since the cancellation, and I imagine they've all kept themselves busy elsewhere (I have no doubts Billy West has atleast). It would be a downright shame if the writers have been influenced by the newer Simpsons style of humour, or if Billy does some of the cast slightly off.

All this said, this is nothing but great news, and has seriously made my day.
