Thread: 24 Season 5

  1. I agree. Lost blows compared to 24.

Lost's yearly 3/4 week hiatus kills the show for me. Not to mention the mysteries that they create without ending previous ones.

Think of it this way. We are getting 4 hours of 24 in 2 days. If this was October-November, that'd take 8 weeks on Lost's time.

  2. Killing off Palmer was really the only natural direction for the character to take. I mean, how else are they gonna have a FORMER President be involved in these terrorist incidents all the time.

On the other hand, I saw Michelle's death coming a mile away.
Tony: "Hey, I'm retired from being a CTU agent now, there's no reason for me to return."
Michelle: "Too bad you had to say that, because now they're invoking "action film cliche #37". Love interest dies, so that the boyfriend can get to do something he didn't want to moments ago."

  3. I have never followed 24, but I have to say this about the show ... I saw it for the first time tonight(Monday). OMG!

This show is amazing. I've watched Lost and have been lost in the first 5 minutes of the show. But 24 is like sooo damn cool. I get what I need to know abhout each character in the first 5 minutes. I know their tendancies, emotions, reactions, everything. Its awesome how they can do that ... which is a credit to the writing staff. Amazing work.

But Lost is like watching a live action Chris Claremoint written ep of X-Men. You have to buy the last two season to understand the one episode they show that night. Any noob coming into Lost has absolutly no idea whats going on. Even though the premise is 12 people get starnded on an island. But luckily the writers decide that any new person wanting to get into the show has to wait till they show those Marathon Lost episodes. Thanks Lost.
I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me.

  4. Chalk me up as another semi new 24 fan. Only started watching a few episodes last season. This show does everything right and it doesnt piss around. Pacing that just doesnt get any better, and some bad bad badass action scenes. Straight to the point, with hardly any over the top nonsense, balls to the walls action. I am surprised at how violent things get in this show, and i love it. I got to buy me some 24 dvds.

That reminds me...CTU storming the terminal was hardcore gangsta. I hate the douche bag from CTU HQ but at least he got the Flank2 position down.

  6. I called that he'd call the flank 2 as a distress call.

What an awesome episode. That was amazing with CTU busting in from behind and taking them all out. However, what will happen next? From the preview, we find out that the things in those containers contain nerve gas, so where do they go from here? I hope the writers can contain episodes as good as the first few were. I just don't know how I can wait a whole week just to see an hour.

  7. the diress code thing was very obvious.... especially to a hobbit

Seriously, even my father recognized the distress code.

  9. I like how the 4 hour premier was a self-contained story arc. They were four great episodes too. Now the pain of waiting a week to see more begins...

I'm starting to wish I didn't watch the 4hours, and instead just waited til the end of the season to watch it all at once. My uncle does that, and it's prolly so much better.
