Thread: Ape Escape 3 - PS2

  1. I loved the first two games so I might play this if I ever get over my Dragon Quest 8 addiction.

  2. Ape Escape 2 was an excellent game. It seems underrated to me, because everyone talks about Ratchet, Jak and Daxter, and Sly but they forget about Ape Escape.

I can't get any of my friends to even come close to playing Ape Escape 2 even though I think its actually the best platformer on the PS2...its right up their with the Jak and Sly series.

All this being said, I think I need to get Ape Escape 3 ASAP.

  3. I picked this up yesterday and played it for most of the afternoon. I'm loving it.
It still has the pretty usual standard Ape Escape problems (Semi-wacky camara), but I haven't gotten into any situtations where tapping the "behind the back" button a few times didn't solve my woes.

The game seems pretty long, as well. I beat three of the five Freaky Monkey Five, and captured about 120 or so apes and I'm still only at, like, 24%.

So, yeah, as someone that loved Ape Escape 2, couldn't really go backwards to Ape Escape 1 because the graphics look like complete shit now, and thought Ape Escape Pumped and Prime was a tad boring; Ape Escape 3 gets my thumbs up approvel.
    ...
I haven't seen the MGS levels yet, but I think EGM said there were like 5 stages based off of MGS or something. I wish it was Castlevania or Mystical Ninja instead. Oh well.

  4. hmmm... I hated Ape Escape 2 since it seemed like, if I just left the game on long enough, it would beat itself. That redemption machine was really tedious to use, as well and the monkey storeis were more pointless than they were entertaining. Part one seemed a lot more challenging...at least compared to how far I played into AE2 before I got tired of it. Maybe I'll check this one out though...are there any new weapons or interesting mini-games?

  5. Ah fuck, I'm really bummed. I don't like this game as much as I thought I would've. It's really easy, even for an AE game, and those morphs are really unbalanced. You can play through the whole game as them and that doesn't really feel like an AE game. I'm only about 10 stages into it so maybe that'll change?

  6. I played this a bit and it's fun, although I'm hoping the difficulty ratches up too. I like it though.

Circuitcity.com has this for $8.96 for some reason. Just ordered it the other day and got it already. Cheapest I've seen it.
