Take-Two to be Acquired?

Take-Two is a terrible company. They've burned through cash, are subject to potential SEC investigation, have at best questionable management, and have no product diversification. They really deserve to go under.

I always felt that had Microsoft acquired Sega prior to the launch of the original Xbox, released the Xbox in Japan under the Sega brand name with a different console design, a Virtua Fighter game and legitimate Phantasy Star RPG, they'd have a fighting chance in Asia.

EA will buy them out, so they can get back to using the MLB license and put an end to competition in the sports market.

I have to believe that would have to be a hostile takeover, which this is not. No one wants to be absorbed by EA.

Worst case should that happen, everybody quit and form a new company/work someplace else. It's not like they're ball and chained to a contract.

Not if Take-Two sees the $$ they're looking for. Who's to say that Take-Two didn't think about undercutting EA in the sports games, to give EA incentive to purchase the company for big bucks?

Yeah, 360 is doing fine in the US. It really needs a lift in Japan. And you guys are right, Sega probably isn't the company to do it.

Buying Sega would do NOTHING for your console sales. Sega needs to stay right where they are. VirtuaFighter as a system seller is a fanboys pipedream.

I guess I could see EA buying Take Two but something tells me that if they are for sale Sony would snatch them up at all costs.

If Microsoft ended up buying them, a GTA on 360 would be a system seller despite would some of you may think. It could actually impact PS3 sales alot IMO.
