What a fucking joke. Even as a rap song it sucked ass.
IAWTP. Though to be fair, the other songs were nothing great either. Why were there only 3 songs nominated this year, anyhow? Seemed like an abnormally light count in a category that really shouldn't have any trouble getting a full roster of nominees.

  2. My only problem with Crash is that it felt like someone sat down and wrote a huge list of emotionally manipulative scenes and decided to make a movie around them. Sure this could be construed as the way one usually makes a movie but I feel they went a little overboard here. Racial drama is incredibly easy to pull off...just watch any Sidney Poitier movie.
"Chuy, you're going to have a magical life. Because no matter where you go, it's always going to be better than Tucson."

  3. Here's a good scathing rebuttal to Crash's win:

  4. The whole DVD sucks thing is probably more to do with piracy than anything.

Exactly. The racist themes Crash approached are interesting. However, the movie was just a huge net of scenes and characters that enveloped a ton of ideas w/o making them unique or that interesting. If the movie would have used a more straight-forward narrative, focusing on less characters I think it could have improved. As it is it just seems like a bunch of really really intense and well shot pretensious after-school special scenes.

I read something about how they had to be in the movie for a certain length to be nominated and nominees have to have received a certain number of votes to be there.

Props to Jamie Foxx for making an utter dumbass of himself. "South African-America. Weird" and some other retard comment I can't remember.

Another observation: Ang Lee didn't need to shout "This is opening the door for all Asians out there!!!" when he won.

I do agree that Crash is a little overrated and Brokeback should've won (though I haven't seen Munich and GN&GL yet), but it was still a good film. If you don't think stuff like this exists, maybe it's not out in the open as it is in the film, but you better believe it's what lurks inside people's heads.

  7. OKay I was overexagerating. But I prefer watching a movie at home. I don't have some "Stranger" in front of me who's head is like a f'ing goodyear blimp. I don't have people talking in the theater or a crying baby. Not one damn person talks to strangers when the film is over. They only talk to their friends.

Serious, if they want to tell us to watch a movie in a theater they used the wrong argument.

My TRUE beef is that every damn person during the Oscars brought up how the Theater experiance is the way to go. yet, they are the ones pumping out the DVD releases closer and closer to the closing of the movie in a theater. If they think its so damn important maybe they should delay the DVD release for a year or two like they do for the movire release on network TV. Thats my REAL anger.
I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me.

  8. More people should see Capote. PSH fully deserved his oscar for that performance.

Crash is oscar-bait so blatant I didn't think even the academy could fall for it.

This wouldnt make a bit of difference and would only hurt the DVD industry in the end. If I cant make it or dont go to the theater to see something I can think of at least one other way to watch that movie. I know you can too.

I finally caught W&G last weekend... huge disappointment. It utterly failed to capture the madcap energy that made the shorts so great. I must conclude that most of the love for it is coming from fans of the "franchise" who can't admit to themselves that the film was a letdown.

    Howl's was robbed.

Perhaps he was trying to parody Halle Berrie's similar nonsensical spiel from two or three years ago?
