American Dad is better than Family Guy

After almost a full season of watching it circle the drain, I've got to say that Family Guy is basically dead. When Simpsons provides a better story and more laughs, it's time to fire all the writers and completely retool the series.

American Dad, on the other hands, has gone from utter crap to well-written and funny as hell. It's a complete surprise, I really didn't have any expectations that it would ever be good, but somehow it's completely pulled itself together.

American Dad is better than Family Guy. This time last year (post-Superbowl being the American Dad premiere) I never thought I'd type those words.

I like Family Guy's cast of characters alot more than American Dad and AD's humor seems forced much of the time wheras Family Guy had random yet hilarious scenes.

What inspired this thread was watching this week's Family Guy and American Dad. I think I laughed twice in Family Guy, maybe. American Dad was great from start to finish. Yes, Family Guy has the better cast, but seeing as they didn't do much that was even somewhat entertaining (and haven't for a while) I'm going to have to say American Dad is better. If I want nothing but random jokes I'll watch Robot Chicken.

I agree, James. Comparing the new FGs to American Dads, AD comes out as the superior show. It's got wittier writing, and actually attempts to add some depth to its characters.

Family Guy hasn't made me laugh in a while. Totally a bummer, because it used to make me lol constantly. The older episodes still do.

Its all parody sketches and sing alongs.

And it all seems forced.
