We are just having our summer breakdown where we always let the yankees pass us. It makes me sick this year.

Only 7 out of the wildcard, baby! Believe

Seriously though, why not watch? Ricciardi played the deadline right, and the young pitchers are throwing some decent games. They've got a couple of creampuff series coming up so they can at least make things interesting again.

I doubt they make it but the team's future is pretty bright, imo. I think JP needs to move Vernon for an ace in the offseason though.

I remember that well. After game 3 I watched them all cry about what a sham the 2004 Red Sox were into their beers.

  4. Good thing we learned by game 7 who the real sham was.

Spo walked right into that one.

Then again, in 1988 the Mets went 10-1 against the Dodgers and lost the NLCS to them.
The 1988 Dodgers were the definition of a team of destiny. There is no way we should have seen anything other than a Mets/A's series that year.

Yankee fans knew long before game 7 that Kevin Brown and Javier Vasquez were a sham.

The Yankees are playing like ass the last 2 games, so fucking sloppy.

  8. It's like a trainwreck. You know it's going to be ugly but you can't turn away from it. Most of us bitch about it but fuck we're never going away.

There are two things going for them, though: The team in 2004 was in a worse position -- they were 10 games behind the Yankees at this point, 2.5 back of the wild card, had gone into a slump right after the trade deadline, and were hitting like absolute shit. The other thing is that the Yankees decided right now was a good time to play like crap also; they could have put some serious distance in the standings but went nowehere. Of course, this team has more problems than the 2004 team did (but if Wells can stay effective that would be a large step forward... how appropiate).

I have to be honest, I had the team as pretty much dead after game 3 of the ALCS. Yheir effective odds to win it were less than 5% at that point; they never became the favorites to win the series until Ortiz hit that jack in the 1st inning of game 7. My thinking there was I had already watched those idiots play 168 games, what the hell was one more game.

Most years it means you guys settle for the card. This year you might be settling for October golf.

Phillies pulled out a ridiculous win over the Reds tonight. They're two out of the NL card.

Assuming they don't get anywhere near the Mets, I'm adopting them.

Fuck that. The Phillies are the next to last team I would adopt. I hate them more than the Braves.
