  1. heh...looks like play by play man Gary Cohen isn't a big fan of Victor Zambrano either. During the post game show Willie was talking about Zambrano's performance and you could hear Gary and Ron Darling making wise comments in the background. OOPS I thought I was hearing things but metsblog.com confirmed it.

During SportsNet NY's post-game interview with Willie Randolph from the team's locker room, the producers apparently forgot to shut off Gary Cohen's and Ron Darling's microphones, as they listened to the interview from the broadcast booth…

Therefore, during Randolph's interview, viewers could hear Cohen's under-the-breath comments, for instance…

Asked if Victor Zambrano fulfilled expectations on the day, Randolph responded, "Well, like I said, I didn't go into the game expecting anything in particular.”…

Cohen them remarked, "That's an understatement…He just downplays everything."…

Darling followed by saying, "Well, what do you expect him to do."…

Randolph continued with regards to Zambrano, "Well, he started to labor after the fifth, but the first time out you can't expect him to be on the top of his game."…

Cohen then remarked, while laughing, "You can never expect him to be on top of his game, because he never is."…
lol Gary is a long time Mets fan so I understand his feelings but he's on TV now and an employee of the Mets (before he was the radio guy for WFAN). He best be careful now that he is on TV now. On top of that SNY needs to get their act together. They have numerous tech issues.

  2. Nothing Omar Minaya has done is in any way comparable to that.

And fuck blackjack. Play a man's game.

it was simpler than describing poker scenarios

I think y'all are too tough on him. He only gave up three runs, got out of his own jams, and quite frankly, this was his first start after dealing with hamstring problems and waiting around to pitch. I'm not disappointed.

Gary's the voice of the Mets. He's gonna have to do worse than that to land in hot water.

Is it my imagination...or does the volume go up and down randomly during broadcasts?

hahah...don't worry, I haven't quit on my team ten games in. I agree that their are many fair weather fans in L.A., but I am not one of them. Calling me a fair weather fan is one of the must insulting things you can say to me. I never quit on the Dodgers, I am a fan for life and I watch every single Dodger game from beginning to end. However, that allows me the opportunity to be very honest when it comes to the Dodgers, and right now the Dodgers are not looking too good....plus, as a Dodger fan you begin to learn something:

    - The Dodgers will let you down every year.
    - The Dodgers don't do good until you start talking shit about them....look, I said they sucked and they won today 13-5
    - As soon as you start thinking the Dodgers are good they will turn to shit and crush all your hopes and dreams

I have never, in my entire life, seen the Dodgers hit as well as they have been hitting. The Dodgers have scored 5 + runs in every game they have played this year except for one, and some of those games they have scored 10, 11, and even 13 runs. In past years the Dodgers would struggle to get three runs in a ball game. However, this offense doesn't really matter because the pitching is just abysmal for the Dodgers right now. They have lost games this year where they have scored 10 + runs. Their is no excuse for the Dodgers to lose when they score 10 runs.

The only reason they have been losing is because of poor pitching. Plus, I can't really count on the pitching "coming around", even though its still early, because it will not come around. Yhency Brazoban and Osoria are not good relievers. I have watched Brazoban pitch the passed couple years, and he just does not have good enough control to be an effective reliever. The Dodgers should have kept Duaner Sanchez for the bullpen.

  6. I really believed the Sox were going to run train on Lilly tonight. Ten strike-outs? What the fuck.

Good game... if it weren't for the fuck-up in the ninth. Thank God we have Ryan.

  7. Vernon with the slam and the Jays take the series in Fenway. Even better, Bonds is under investigation for perjury. I really hope they nail Sheffield and Giambi on this steroid thing too. (Yeah, I know they didn't testify, but there's still MLB's probe.)

  8. good to see Gavin Floyd bounce back from shaky first start.

Good way to cap off the week by taking two from the Braves on the road.

When was the last time the Mets developed a player like David Wright before David Wright? One thing a Mets fan can't call out a Red Sox or Yankees fan on is homegrown players. Another is salary or "buying" a team.

    Fixed.

It was a good game, Floyd and Utley both came of slumps and delivered quality ball playing tonight. Rollins is up to a 6 game hitting streak now and continued his great playing for the night. If Smoltz had been on the mound things might've been different but the fact is that they won the Series against the Braves and that leaves them in Colorado (a weaker team then Atlanta) with boosted confidence. April isn't over yet.
