  3. Heh The Daily Show had some funny news clips with people that were on the scene. My personal fav where they were like "Dick Cheney exited his vehicle and then targeted some quails turned and fired" For real they were on some pathetic rich man quail shoot. Who drives a vehicle around hunting and just gets out and casually shoots stuff...other than in L.A.

  4. dan quail.

    But of course.

Not being a hunter, nor having any interest in ever being one, I'm not up on the laws pertaining to it. But aren't hunting accidents treated differently than if you just accidentally shot someone while walking down the street? I mean, you're engaging in an activity where there are people running around and shooting at stuff. There's a certain element of danger involved that you agree to risk by partaking. So if someone shoots you, I don't know if they'd be libel in the same way they would be if you, say, just got drunk in your backyard with a friend and started shooting at bottles and hit him instead.

Anyone aware of how the law applies in cases like this, especially to people not of Chaney's stature?

  6. To get your hunting license you have to be certified, which means you've taken courses on gun safety and hunt safety. So, any deaths on a hunting trip as regards to human error are considered as still your fault for not heading one of the safety measures laid out. Naturally, the situation is reviewed to determine how negligent really were, but odds are you will be charged with something. However, in many cases even the most grossly negligent hunter still gets off with involuntary manslaughter and short probation. The idea is that, the hunter killed knew there was a certain level of risk when he went on the trip.

    That's my understanding anyway.
    Time for a change

I think i heard that Cheney didn't have a license, and was hunting illegally. i am still hoping he gets proper fucked, but i doubt it.

  8. Yea he didnt have his paperwork in line. However authorities are not going to take any action about that.

Imagine you are driving and get into an accident and injure someone badly. At the scene they find you have an expired license. Jail time isnt even a question.

  9. Wonderful. What a disgrace.

If he gets off, someone needs to organize a bunch of people who served time for involuntary manslaughter, give them all signs that say "I served X years for involuntary manslaughter", and have them go picket washington. If i served time for it i would.

edit - i'm getting ahead of myself, the guy hasn't even died (yet)
