Thread: Dead Rising

  1. Word on the street is the boots don't actually do anything for you; seeing as how the ammo belt, special ops boots and special ops uniform also do nothing, I think it might be the hard fact.

As a side note, Frank looks awesome in all the special ops gear, especially when you have a Serve Bot mask on.

  2. Haha I've been playing Infinite mode and it's a riot.

Tons of regular characters make random appearances wherever you go. Like for example I fought the sniper family in the park and a couple of the escorts in other areas. Your health is constantly draining and food items are rather limited(grocery store is closed and no respawns). I also ran into the Molotov dickhead and I took him out with a sniper rifle and a fire ax. Really interesting take on the game since there's no escorting and it's all survival.

  3. Grocery store is closed? Food doesn't respawn? Damn. What about the OJ and Pie in the Roast Master place? Is that infinite?

I'm going to do Overtime tonight so I can start that shit. It has to be done.

  4. Just hit lvl 45. The hand to hand combat is so much fun--I use the lift maneuver on my stupid escorts and just carry/throw them to the security office. Infinite mode is fuckin crazy--but I did enjoy beating the shit out of Otis.

Hahaha. I never thought of that. When you carry survivors do you still run full speed? Shit, if so it'd probably a lot easier and quicker to simply go one at a time carrying people to the security room. And I haven't even got the third speed upgrade yet.

Buy Yakuza and Oblivion. Help yourself, help TNL.

  6. I have two books in my inventory which increase the life of my one handed chainsaws. Basically that means by filling 6 item slots I have 12 chainsaws.

Fuck guns, I'm taking on bosses with these saws, becuase of the Cop is any indication, they're all fucking helpless against them.

As a side note, I just went to Andy's Zboz profile to send him a friend request and I noticed his Gamer Score was 6666.

    Which is awesome.

  7. Nice idea. You'd have to change up the strategy a bit for a few of them, though (like the gun store owner and the sniper. Probably the convicts too.). Two books, a sniper rifle, and as many chainsaws as you have inventory slots would probably work well.

How do you get multiple one handed chainsaws? You're talking about the one you can get from the clown, right?

I was just hanging with Satan. Dude loves to rape souls of the damned.

I almost don't want to go for more achievements, just because it'll ruin it.

  8. Well I didn't fight Adam until after the gunstore owner, but actually I fought him with a Sword (not the Katana) and it worked really well. You just stand on the other side of the counter and jump and slash over and over. He tries to grab you a few times and misses but never tries to shoot.

Every other boss fight is actually easily done with a hand to hand weapon (with the exception of the grocery store manager who you want to pin on the other side of a counter and shoot in the face), infact it only took me two or three swipes with the sword to take down the first two of the sniper trio, but then when my sword broke on the first swing on the last kid, it took me like 10 fucking snipers bullets to the head to take him down. I have a good feeling that almost every boss in this game can easily be taken down with the chainsaws if you just move in close quickly.

Anyway, when my slots are all filled in at a higher level I'll totally be carrying 4 bottles of wine and 2 sniper rifles at all times as well.

    Almost forgot...

Just leave the plaze (go into the foodcourt or north plaze) and return and it'll be there again just like the Katana and SMG in Paradise Plaza.

  9. Damn, nice. I figured the really powerful weapons didn't respawn until you broke the previous one. I thought that was how the SMG worked, at least. I'll be stocking up on mini-chainsaws from now on.

And yeah, I didn't realize how useful it would be to have so many extra item slots. Once you get it filled out, you're essentially able to carry a good supply of health, power ups, and powerful weapons at all times.

    I love Dead Rising.

  10. Capcom is very arrogant about forcing their annoying save systems on people. Sometimes it pays off, and the game is actually better for it (RE), sometimes it makes you just not want to play (VJ).
What was wrong with VJ's save system?
