Thread: Dead Rising

  1. I haven't had a lot of time to devote to this, and I don't have a lot right now to review the thread. So, for time's sake, can one of you nice folks please tell me where I can find Adam the Clown -- I'm plan on killing him tonight when I finally get out of my office. Thanks.

Top floor of Wonderland Plaza, halfway through the mall. You need to attempt to stop the rollercoaster to fight him (also need to have the scoop).

For everyone bitching about AI, get the book from Adam the cult leader. Makes all your escorts alot easier

I don't care enough about it to go through all that work again, I already have the achievement points, so whatever.
Apparently, you do not have to complete Genocide again, as long as you complete 72 hour mode again, you will unlock it.

EDIT: I don't know if anyone else has been having this same problem, but I seem to never get the scoop calls to certain psychopaths (mainly Jo, pyro kid, and Sean). After doing some reading, and some playing experience of my own, I have come up with a few theories on the topic

    1) If you are escorting 3 survivors or more, you will not get the calls. Apparently the game will only allow you to have 8 survivors and will know if a scoop will exeed that limit or not. This seems more unlikely as I do not believe some of those psychopaths have 5 survivors with them,

    2) If you are in that section of the mall where the psychopath occurs or are in the security room during time of call, you will not recieve them. During my Genocide run, I recieved calls for both Jo and Sean and noted the time of calls. On a later run, I was in Wonderland Plaza at the time I was supposed to get the Jo call but never did. I also do not recall ever recieving a call while in the security room, though I may be mistaken.

    3) The game hates you and does not want you to get this achievment. You should just go ahead and sell the game because you suck at life, Ok, this one isn't really a theory and has nothing logical to do with anything, but I wanted a number 3 so here it is.

Thanks. Now that you mention this, I think it was one of the very early scoops that came up...and went. Next play through, I guess.

  5. i was escorting a survivor and he got surrounded by zombies, so he shot himself, it played a weird cutscene of them surrounding him, the gun pointing to his head then his body falling to the ground, lol

it was the dude hiding behind the cardboard boxes from the "in the closet" store

Looks like I'm leaving this running tonight with Frank standing on the roof.

I had this problem the first time through with the cult leader, I just never got the call. The second time through I get every call until I stoped doing CASES.

I swear, sometimes it does. *cough* Perfect Gunner *cough*

Really though, I think the key is to be out in the mall with time to spare. Otis will only call you when you're in the mall and often only if you're in the right area. Make sure you've been everywhere and keep moving around picking up scoops and you'll get all you calls.

As a final note I beat overtime tonight without being knocked out so tomorrow I'm going to go for 7 days in infinity (while making sure to find all the PP stickers and try on every outfit) and then finally start up a game looking for all the survivors. With a little luck I'll be 1,000 for 1,000 bu the end of this weekend.

I tried out infinity mode the other day for a bit, and it was pretty hard. It starts out at night which is a pain and I couldn't find where the hell Adam was. I looked all over Wonderland Plaza, but apparently the psychopath spawn times are random, so you could get stuck withought the mini chainsaws for a while. The only thing about infinity mode is that you cannot save and it takes 14 hours to play 7 in game days. I'm still working on the damn Punished achievment seeing as I still don't get all the calls.

  8. 14 hours!!! Screw that! I wont be playing thourgh infinity mode. Piss on the rest of the achievements.
Korly-"Everyone here is an asshole, SURPRISE!"

  9. I'm using a tricky tactic for infinity mode right now that I call "hide like a little bitch".

To "hide like a little bitch" you go from store to store looking for food while jumping around zombies. When you find food you stand behind the counter where the zombies can't reach you until your health drops enough that you can get the full effect of the item you want to eat, and then you eat it. Of course I have like 8 OJs as backup. The thing is, after like 10 hours or so in game, I'm already through the movie theatre, paradise plaza and al freasca plaza. I just hit the food court, where some asshole has a machine gun, but he's easy to avoid and I just found a bunch of milk.

I don't see how this method will get me to 7 day unless zombies, not bosses, zombies, drop food. Fighting bosses seems pointless though: I mean if they give you nothing to heal you just wasted health, and unless they drop like 5 bottles of wine, you'll probably go negative on health over all. As such I'm staying away.

EDIT: turns out any NPC who isn't a zombie drops a box of all their belongins, not just one item, when you kill them. So while it took me 5 health blocks to kill Carlito, he dropped a steak which healed that all and then four more health blocks worth of food, making it worth it to fight him.

I'd assume guys without guns would prove even more rewarding. Now where's Otis?

A little pro tip, find all three books that increase the effect of food. One is located in the empty shop next to Crislips, another in the book store in Wonderland Plaza, and the final one in Sir Bookalot in Entrance plaza. With all of those, one milk or OJ should heal compeltely.

The main problem I have is that I get DR errors every now and then during loads and I also don't want to leave my system on for 14+ hours. It just isn't worth it. I feel like I have done a pretty good job with the game and can move on. I'll leave the last few that can be done in 72 hour mode for when I want to go back through the game again. Right now, I need to move on. I've played this game way too much already.
