    Urban culture isn't the same thing as thug culture.

Who would buy that thing? How does anyone take that kind of posturing seriously?
    This is my biggest problem with the marketing for that game and in general. I'm sorry, I'm just not interested. Be real and sell a real idea. The entire game gimmick was made to fit a niche, which is fine because that's what is popular, but don't expect the ever-expanding otaku fan-base to embrace it. It doesn't have jpop, it doesn't have underage looking girls in skimpy outfits, and it doesn't have a weird unpronounceable title. And don't expect the real thugs to embrace it, cause of the very nature of the advertising. 50 Cent? Ok, I believe he is hard, we can look at the bullet holes etc. He can sell that. But Ecko? Sorry, not gonna work. Try another angle.
    "50,000! You scored 50,000 points on Double Dragon?"

  3. I won't buy Mark Ecko's game because it is destined to be a clearance title. Why pay $50 when you can pay $10? I could care less about urban culture.

    The way it's used by Mark Ecko it is. I completely agree that people who live in NYC, for instance, have a unique urban culture that is completely different.

    Please explain.

    Graffiti != thug culture.

    And yea it doesnt seem fair that this game is being lumped with crap like 25 to Life and True Crime.

    And I also like how once he realized the game wouldnt be done by Black Friday they pushed it to the dark days of first quarter. How many times have we complained that companies dont do this?

    Not saying everyone should buy this immediately but the more outsiders working on games the better for everyone.

  6. I wonder, by making this statement so early in the game's life, is Ecko cutting himself off at the knees? This seems like the type of game that would be carried by word of mouth, --unless first-month sales are all that matters now.

  7. Intially, I totally blew this game off too. It seemingly rode in on the wave of shit like 25 to Life and Bulletproof. Then I read the review at Gamespot. I really do think this game is unnecessarily hurting because of bad timing and because most people in the gaming industry keep putting the words urban culture in quotation marks.

    When I get some cash I'm picking this up.

    99% of the time Graffiti = thug culture. There aren't that many places where it is legal to paint buildings, walls, etc.

  9. it's a shame no one is picking up this game. It's actually really fucking fun. A mix between Graffiti and parkour.

    Sadly this game is going to bomb. it's a fairly original title with good gameplay mechanics , but it's not linked to some huge franchise or license so that loses a lot of sales there and the J-Pop(Everything must be japanese) crowd are going to overlook it and call it a JSR clone. Sad.

    I also agree with the vast amount of stuff this guy says. Most gamers are the most annoying people I have ever met that have a bug up their ass about everything little fucking thing. Urban games, EA,eastern/Western games,nintendo, etc.

    I have no interested in this game for the same reason that I strongly disliked GTA: SA after loving GTA3 and GTA: VC. There is no glamor in being a random street thug. Organized crime is interesting. Filth isn't.
