Not just the music industry, but TV as well... this shit gets HUGE ratings, and even takes viewers away from things that should be more important like the Olympics (although I agree the winter games aren't as exciting, esp. this year). Also, this show gets huge ratings while fox cancels other shows that deserve to stay on.

I'm amused by the fact that neither Tobal nor anyone else named a show and diffusionx immediately rushes in to bash Arrested Development. We get it, you didn't like the show.

No, Arrested Development just happens to be the latest Fox show cancelled and one that several people are fervent fans of thus making it a good example to use in response to the original statement.

I made one post on the subject, and besides it doesnt even matter what show it is, the fact is that American Idol isnt forcing TV shows with bad ratings on Fox to be cancelled. If anything blame people who just pirate episodes of whatever instead of watching them.

Only knock I have to American Idol is that it's on too fucking much and too long. I have trouble sitting through 2 hours 2-3 times a week. That's a major commitment. And it's half commercials.
